The efficiency of applying precision devices and multiple laboratory methods devised to reveal the causes of bleeding and thromboses significantly depends on whether a wide range of rules of the preanalytical stage of the study is observed. The paper gives detailed information on conditions for taking blood samples, their transport, and preparation for examination of the hemostatic system. The given information is based on the worldwide recommendations and many years' experience gained by the authors at the laboratory of hemostasis.

The diagnosis of subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is extremely important for appropriate management. Cerebral computed tomography (CT), used as the first-line investigation to detect bleeding, has excellent sensitivity if performed promptly, but its sensitivity falls sharply with the time elapsed since the onset of SAH. Oxyhemoglobin and bilirubin, the breakdown products of heme, are detectable in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) by spectrophotometric absorption, which defines the search for xanthochromia pigment in CSF.

Objectives: The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO)/College of American Pathologists (CAP) recommend cold ischemia time (cIT) be <60 min, and formalin fixation time (FFT) 6-72 h, to optimize immunohistochemistry (IHC) based on breast cancer data. We assessed whether cIT and FFT impact IHC in endometrial cancer (EC), and determined which factors affect cIT and FFT.
Methods: Surgical EC cases from 2019 to 2023 were reviewed.

Pharyngitis is an inflammatory condition of the pharynx and/or tonsils commonly seen in both children and adults. Viruses and bacteria represent the most common encountered etiologic agents-yeast/fungi and parasites are infrequently implicated. Some of these are predominantly observed in unique populations (eg, immunocompromised or unvaccinated individuals).

The treatment involves (hemi-)thyroidectomy, possibly followed by additional therapeutic options. After treatment, patients are monitored using serum concentrations of endocrine tumour markers: thyroglobulin (Tg) in case of differentiated cancer and calcitonin in case of medullary thyroid cancer.

Introduction: Urine cytology is robust for the diagnosis of urothelial lesions, but data on the detection rates of prostatic adenocarcinoma in urine cytology is limited. In this study, a multicenter review was performed to define the clinical role of urine cytology in diagnosis of prostatic adenocarcinoma.
Methods: Cytologic diagnoses of lower tract urine cytology specimens with histology-proven prostatic adenocarcinoma from three institutions, from a period of over two decades, were reviewed.
