Airborne pathogens like bring the lungs in the frontline for defense. Pulmonary diseases caused by species are broadly classified as aspergilloma, chronic necrotizing pulmonary aspergillosis, invasive pulmonary aspergillosis (IPA), and bronchopulmonary aspergillosis. Intensive care unit (ICU) admission is required for a large number of patients associated with IPA.

To analyze the bronchoscopic manifestations and interventional treatment of pulmonary mucormycosis. Clinical data of patients with pulmonary mucormycosis undergoing bronchoscopy and interventional therapy in 4 tertiary general hospitals in China from May 2006 to May 2022 were retrospectively analyzed and the literature on the subject were reviewed. The data of 10 patients with pathologically diagnosed pulmonary mucormycosis undergoing bronchoscopy and interventional therapy were collected, including 8 males and 2 females.

A man in his 80s with no known comorbidities presented with diffuse swelling on the dorsal aspect of his right forearm for 3 months. Clinical features were suggestive of soft tissue sarcoma of the right forearm. A high resolution CT scan of the thorax showed allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis associated with mild mediastinal lymphadenopathy.

Background: Fungal diseases have an ever-increasing global disease burden, although regional estimates for specific fungal diseases are often unavailable or dispersed.
Objectives: Here, we report the current annual burden of life-threatening and debilitating fungal diseases in the Netherlands.
Methods: The most recent available epidemiological data, reported incidence and prevalence of fungal diseases were used for calculations.
