Regulatory T cells (Tregs) are known in humans and mice from last 15 years, and several studies led to a detailed knowledge on their phenotype, functions, and role in various immune reactions. In swine, the existence of Tregs was first demonstrated in 2008 and research is still at the beginning. Nevertheless, basic information regarding phenotype, mechanisms and targets of suppression, as well as implications in transplantation and some diseases are available. Purpose of this review is to give a brief summary of the current knowledge about porcine Tregs.

In recent years, a growing body of research has unveiled the involvement of the necroptosis pathway in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease (AD). This evidence has shed light on the mechanisms underlying neuronal death in AD, positioning necroptosis at the forefront as a potential target for therapeutic intervention. This review provides an update on the current knowledge on this emerging, yet rapidly advancing topic, encompassing all published studies that present supporting proof of the role of the necroptosis pathway in the neurodegenerative processes of AD.

Pemphigus foliaceus (PF) is one of the most common autoimmune skin diseases of dogs and cats and is characterized by the development of pustules, crusts, erosions, scales, and alopecia. Albeit poorly understood, the pathophysiology of canine and feline PF appears to involve immune dysregulation and immunoglobulin G autoantibodies that are directed against the keratinocyte cell surface. At present, the management of canine and feline PF relies on the long-term to lifelong prescription of immunosuppressive medications.

This publication aims to provide guidelines of the knowledge required and the potential research to be conducted in order to understand the mode of action of antimethanogenic feed additives (AMFA). In the first part of the paper, we classify AMFA into 4 categories according to their mode of action: (1) lowering dihydrogen (H) production; (2) inhibiting methanogens; (3) promoting alternative H-incorporating pathways; and (4) oxidizing methane (CH). The second part of the paper presents questions that guide the research to identify the mode of action of an AMFA on the rumen CH production from 5 different perspectives: (1) microbiology; (2) cell and molecular biochemistry; (3) microbial ecology; (4) animal metabolism; and (5) cross-cutting aspects.
