Introduction: The aim of this experimental study was to evaluate the effects of systemically applied zoledronic acid on bone regeneration in response to expansion of the sagittal suture and relapse in rats.
Methods: Thirty-six male Wistar rats were divided into 3 groups. In the first and second groups, saline solution was given subcutaneously after expansion, and the retention periods lasted 14 and 7 days, respectively. In the third group, 0.1 mg of zoledronic acid was diluted with saline solution and given subcutaneously after expansion; the retention period lasted for 7 days. Expansion and relapse amounts were measured by using computed tomography. After the retention period, 6 rats from each group were killed for histologic and immunohistochemical assessments. The other 6 rats from each group were used for observation of the relapse.
Results: The histologic evaluation showed that, in groups 1 and 2, the numbers of osteoblasts were less than observed in group 3. When scores of staining intensity were compared, immunoreactivities were statistically significantly increased in group 3 compared with groups 2 and 1. Statistically significant differences were found when the relapse percentages were compared between the groups (P <0.05). The smallest relapse occurred in group 3.
Conclusions: Zoledronic acid has positive effects on bone formation in the sagittal suture in response to expansion and decreases the relapse ratio after expansion in rats.

Bisphenol A (BPA) is a hazardous endocrine disruptor released into the environment during the production of certain plastics used for covering of food and beverage cans. In this work, we examined the protective benefits of selenium (Se) against intestinal damage induced by BPA in male rats. Rats were distributed randomly into four groups.

To investigate the clinicopathological characteristics of solid, endometrial-like and transitional (SET) cell growth subtype in high-grade serous ovarian carcinoma (HGSC). Clinical data of 25 cases of HGSC-SET were collected from January 2020 to March 2024 at the Affiliated Suzhou Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, and their histological features were analyzed. Immunohistochemical stains were used to analyze the expression of ER, PR, PAX8, WT-1, p16, p53 and Ki-67.

Calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumor (CEOT) is a rare benign odontogenic epithelial tumor characterized by the presence of amyloid material within the tumor that can undergo calcification. CEOT affects individuals across a broad age range, typically between 20 and 60 years, with an average onset age of 40 years. However, it is extremely rare in children and adolescents.

The present study aims to better understand the nature of currently circulating GPV strains and their pathological impact on the immune system during natural outbreaks among different duck breeds in Egypt. For this purpose, 99 ducks (25 flocks) of different breeds, aged 14-75 days, were clinically examined, and 75 tissue pools from the thymus, bursa of Fabricius, and spleen were submitted for virus detection and identification. Clinical and postmortem findings were suggestive of GPV infection.

Chordomas are a low-to-intermediate-grade slow-growing subtype of sarcoma, but show propensity to grow and invade locally with recurrence and metastasis in 10-40% of cases. We describe the first case of spontaneous regression of a solid tumor (histologically and immunohistochemically proven chordoma) after COVID-19. A female patient with clival chordoma underwent occipitocervical fixation prior to tumor resection.
