Wnt/β-catenin signalling plays a rate-limiting role in early development of many different organs in a broad spectrum of organisms. In the developing Müllerian duct, Wnt/β-catenin signalling is important for initiation, outgrowth, patterning and differentiation into vagina, cervix, uterus and oviducts. In adult life, sex hormones modulate Wnt/β-catenin signalling in the endometrium to maintain the monthly balance between estrogen-induced proliferation and progesterone-induced differentiation, and enhanced Wnt/β-catenin signalling seems to be involved in endometrial carcinogenesis. However, early in pregnancy enhanced Wnt/β-catenin signalling is prerequisite for proper implantation and invasion of trophoblast cells into endometrium and myometrium thus helping to form a placenta. Overall, it seems that tight control of Wnt/β-catenin signalling in time and space is important for initiation, development and normal function of the female reproductive tract. However, if Wnt/β-catenin signalling is not kept in check, it easily seems to initiate or contribute to development of a number of uterine disorders.

While mitochondria are known to be essential for intracellular energy production and overall function, emerging evidence highlights their role in influencing cell behavior through mitochondrial transfer. This phenomenon provides a potential basis for the development of treatment strategies for tissue damage and degeneration. This study aims to evaluate whether mitochondria isolated from osteoblasts can promote osteogenic differentiation in mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs).

Background: As the worldwide population ages, osteoarthritis has significantly increased. This musculoskeletal condition has become a pressing global health issue and thus, prevention and treatment of osteoarthritis have become the primary focus of domestic and international research. Scholarly investigations of the molecular mechanisms that are related to the occurrence and development of osteoarthritis have shed light on the pathological causes of this condition to a certain extent, providing a foundation for its prevention and treatment.

Background: Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) play a significant role in human breast cancer as a major stromal component. While their role in promoting cancer proliferation and malignancy through interaction with cancer cells in the tumor microenvironment is known, the exact mechanisms behind this interaction are not fully understood.
Results: Our study reveals that lymphoid enhancer-binding factor 1 (LEF1), a central transcription factor for Wnt/β-catenin signaling, is expressed in experimentally generated tumor-promoting CAFs (exp-CAFs) as well as in CAFs from breast cancer patients, particularly those with a poor prognosis.

The controllable regulation of immune and osteogenic processes plays a critical role in the modification of biocompatible materials for tissue regeneration. In this study, titanium dioxide-europium coatings (MAO/Eu) were prepared on the surface of a titanium alloy (Ti-6Al-4V) a one-step process combining microarc oxidation (MAO) and doping. The incorporation of Eu significantly improved the hydrophilic and mechanical properties of the TiO coatings without altering their morphology.

Background: A primary factor in the pathogenesis of aging is oxidative stress, with cardiac inflammation and fibrosis being contributed to by increased oxidative stress as organisms age. Oxidative stress enhances the cardiac fibrotic signaling pathway, with reactive oxygen species inducing cardiac fibrosis through increased expression of the profibrotic factor transforming growth factor-beta 1 (TGF-β1). Furthermore, Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway is implicated in interstitial fibrosis, which is associated with TGF-β.
