Microarrays of N-doped flower-like TiO(2) composed of well-defined multilayer nanoflakes were synthesized at room temperature by electrochemical anodization of Ti in NH(4)F aqueous solution. The TiO(2) flowers were of good anatase crystallinity. The effects of anodizing time, applied voltage and NH(4)F concentration on the flower-like morphology were systematically examined. It was found that the morphologies of the anodized Ti were related to the anodizing time and NH(4)F concentration. The size and density of the TiO(2) flowers could be tuned by changing the applied voltage. The obtained N-doped flower-like TiO(2) microarrays exhibited intense absorption in wavelengths ranging from 320 to 800 nm. Under both UV and visible light irradiation, the photocatalytic activity of the N-doped flower-like TiO(2) microarrays in the oxidation of methyl orange showed a significant increase compared with that of commercial P25 TiO(2) film.

The -doped biochar is recognized as a promising, cost-effective, and efficient material for CO adsorption. However, achieving efficient enrichment of -containing adsorption sites and improving their accessibility remains a bottleneck problem that restricts the adsorption performance of -doped biochar. Herein, a synthesis strategy for nitrogen-doped biochar by one-pot ionothermal treatment of biomass and zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF) precursors accompanied by pyrolysis is demonstrated.

The rational synthesis of an electrode material with a highly active and stable architecture is very critical to achieving high-performance electrochemical energy storage. Herein, N-doped carbon restricting yolk-shell CoSe/NiSe (CoSe/NiSe@NC) flower-like microspheres were successfully synthesized from solid CoNi-glycerate microspheres using a coating technology as an anode material for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). The unique yolk-shell CoSe/NiSe@NC microspheres with hierarchical pores can increase the contact area with the electrolyte and provide enough transfer channels for the diffusion of Li.

Combining the merits of the dendrite-free formation of a Mg anode and the fast kinetics of Li ions, the Mg-Li hybrid ion batteries (MLIBs) are considered an ideal energy storage system. However, the lack of advanced cathode materials limits their further practical application. Herein, we report a dual strategy of morphology optimization and interlayer expansion for the construction of hierarchical flower-like VS architecture coated by N-doped amorphous carbon layers.

Hydrogen storage in MgH is an ideal solution for realizing the safe storage of hydrogen. High operating temperature, however, is required for hydrogen storage of MgH induced by high thermodynamic stability and kinetic barrier. Herein, flower-like microspheres uniformly constructed by N-doped TiO nanosheets coated with TiN nanoparticles are fabricated to integrate the light absorber and thermo-chemical catalysts at a nanometer scale for driving hydrogen storage of MgH using solar energy.

Lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries have been garnered significant attention in the energy storage field due to their high theoretical specific capacity and low cost. However, Li-S batteries suffer from issues like the shuttle effect, poor conductivity, and sluggish chemical reaction kinetics, which hinder their practical development. Herein, a novel hollow flower-like architecture composed of MoS/MoC heterostructures in N-doped carbon substrate (H-MoS/MoC/NC NFs), which were well designed and prepared through a calcination-vulcanization method, were used as high-efficiency catalyst to propel polysulfide redox kinetics.
