A GTP aptamer was converted to a modular fluorescent GTP sensor by conjugation of RRE (Rev responsive element) RNA and successive complex formation with a fluorophore-modified Rev peptide. Structural changes associated with substrate binding in the RNA aptamer were successfully transduced into changes in fluorescence intensity because of the modular structure of ribonucleopeptides. A simple modular strategy involving conjugation of a fluorophore-modified ribonucleopeptide to the stem region of an RNA aptamer deduced from secondary structural information helps produce fluorescent sensors, which allow tuning of excitation and detection wavelengths through the replacement of the fluorophore at the N-terminal of the Rev peptide.

Inflammation is a dynamic process which importantly involves migration of immune cells. Understanding the onset, acute phase and resolution of inflammation is greatly facilitated by their imaging. However, immune cells are sensitive, difficult to genetically manipulate and prone to changes in response to contact, hindering the application of well-established cell labeling methods.

The tedious synthesis and limited throughput biological evaluation remain a great challenge for discovering new proteolysis targeting chimera (PROTAC). To rapidly identify potential PROTAC lead compounds, we report a platform named Auto-RapTAC. Based on the modular characteristic of the PROTAC molecule, a streamlined workflow that integrates lab automation with "click chemistry" joint building-block libraries was constructed.

(Hetero)polyaryl amines are extensively prevalent in pharmaceuticals, fine chemicals, and materials but the intricate and varied nature of their structures severely restricts their synthesis. Here, we present a selective multicomponent cycloaromatization of structurally and functionally diverse amine substrates for the general and modular synthesis of (hetero)polyaryl amines through copper(I)-catalysis. This strategy directly constructs a remarkable range of amino group-functionalized (hetero)polyaryl frameworks (194 examples), including naphthalene, binaphthalene, phenanthren, benzothiophene, dibenzothiophene, benzofuran, dibenzofuran, quinoline, isoquinoline, quinazoline, and others, which are challenging or impossible to obtain using alternative methods.

Bioinspired hydroxypyridinone (HOPO)functionalized materials are shown to display a remarkable capacity for stability and for chelating a wide array of metal ions. This allows for the synthesis of multifunctional networks with diverse physical properties when compared to traditional catechol systems. In the present study, we report a facile, one-pot synthesis of an amino HOPO ligand and simple, scalable incorporation into PEG-acrylate based networks via active ester chemistry.
