In 55 intensive-care patients an additional tangential view of the chest was taken to demonstrate or exclude a pneumothorax in patients with sudden deterioration of gas exchange and negative ap-chest x-ray, if there was a suspicion of pneumothorax or a confirmed small pneumothorax in the ap-view. In 14 of 42 cases (33.3%) with negative or suspected ap-chest x-ray the tangential view revealed a pneumothorax. 6 of these 14 pneumothoraces were under tension. In 7 out of 11 patients (63.6%) with small pneumothorax, the tangential view showed additionally a tension pneumothorax.

Background: The electronic compensation (ECOMP) technique for breast radiation therapy provides excellent dose conformity and homogeneity. However, the manual fluence painting process presents a challenge for efficient clinical operation.
Purpose: To facilitate the clinical treatment planning automation of breast radiation therapy, we utilized reinforcement learning (RL) to develop an auto-planning tool that iteratively edits the fluence maps under the guidance of clinically relevant objectives.

Background: To provide improved treatment for hallux valgus (HV), we sought to understand more about the pathophysiologic connection between flatfoot deformity and HV by comparing coronal plane alignment of the medial column of the foot for patients with isolated HV, isolated flatfoot, and combined HV-flatfoot vs controls.
Methods: This study retrospectively assessed a consecutive series of 33 patients with combined symptomatic and radiographic HV and flatfoot, 33 isolated symptomatic HV, 33 isolated symptomatic flatfoot, and 33 controls. The medial column alignment was assessed in the coronal plane using 3-dimensional weightbearing computed tomography (WBCT); rotation was measured for the navicular, medial cuneiform, and first metatarsal (M1).

The author discusses the idea that psychoanalysts could benefit from a common paradigm, not necessarily a single theory, but a general frame through which to view their work. Focusing on perception as a basic modality of psychic life, in combination with the system-environment approach, could provide this common baseline. The text explores how this approach relates to the work of Freud, Bion, and Winnicott, emphasizing the interconnectedness of systems and their environments, the role of perception, and the concept of a contact barrier.

Gas transport through nanochannels has aroused significant interest in many fields. Recently, "ballistic transport" of gas was observed through a two-dimensional graphene nanochannel, and it causes a peculiar enhancement compared to the predictions of the Knudson theory. Many studies attributed this effect to the specular reflection caused by the atomically smooth surface of the channel.

Background: The skyline or dorsal tangential view (DTV) and the carpal shoot-through (CST) have been developed to enhance the intraoperative examination of the distal radius's dorsal cortex during open reduction and internal fixation with volar plates. This study aimed to assess the lateral view (LV), DTV, and CST's effectiveness in showcasing screws that penetrate the dorsal cortex.
Methods: Eighty patients, comprised of 42 women and 38 men with an average age of 53 years, underwent volar locking plate fixation for displaced distal radius fractures.
