Electron donor-acceptor complexes are commonly employed to facilitate photoinduced radical-mediated organic reactions. However, achieving these photochemical processes with catalytic amounts of donors or acceptors can be challenging, especially when aiming to reduce catalyst loadings. Herein, we have unveiled a framework-based heterogenization approach that significantly enhances the photoredox activity of perylene diimide species in radical addition reactions with alkyl silicates by promoting faster and more efficient electron donor-acceptor complex formation.

Alkyne- and alkene-tethered acyl fluorides undergo intramolecular carbofluorination via fluoride recycling using catalytic TrBF. Excellent stereoselectivity is observed for the alkyne addition, enabling access to novel fluorinated indan-2-ones (all ≥95:5 /) and cyclopentan-2-ones (85:15 /). Fluorinated chroman-2-ones and tertiary alkyl fluorides can also be synthesized using this method, comparing favorably to previously reported protocols that employ expensive metal catalysts under harsher conditions.

Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) are crystalline porous materials bearing well-ordered two- or three-dimensional molecular tectons in their polymeric skeletal framework. COFs are structurally robust as well as physiochemically stable. Currently, these are being developed for their use as "heterogeneous catalysts" for various organic transformations.

The loading of CuO effectively improves the visible light absorption capacity of the composite material. The SPR effect of Cu improves the separation and transfer of photogenerated carriers in the composite material.
