Glucose oxidase (GOD) was encapsulated in vesicles containing a photoionizable Malachite Green leuconitrile derivative (MGL). Subsequent UV irradiation of MGL afforded the fusion of GOD- and glucose-encapsulating vesicles and thus decreased the concentration of glucose in the vesicles. The time dependence of the vesicle fusion was studied using fluorescent probe molecules. This phototriggered fusion could be instrumental in the development of a system for the production of nanometer-sized bioreactors.

Effective glycemic control is paramount for optimal wound healing in diabetic patients. Traditional antibacterial and anti-inflammatory treatments, while important, often fall short in addressing the hyperglycemic conditions of diabetic wounds. Therefore, the development of novel therapeutic strategies for accelerating diabetic wound healing has garnered escalating attention.

Understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying insect resistance to (Bt) pesticidal proteins is crucial for sustainable pest management. Here, we found that downregulation of the ecdysone oxidase gene () in the normal feeding stages contributes to increased 20-hydroxyecdysone (20E) titer and mediates resistance to the Bt Cry1Ac toxin. The gene was cloned and its expression was significantly downregulated in the midgut of Bt-resistant and Cry1Ac-selected .

Various injectable glucose-responsive insulin release systems, including microspheres, have been developed to achieve insulin release for over a day. However, a major challenge is on-demand release insulin, which is closely related to the degradation rate of the delivery vehicle. Herein, chitosan-based three-compartment microspheres (TCMs) were fabricated using gas-shearing microfluidics.

Weaning stress-induced diarrhea is a serious issue in pig production. This study aimed to evaluate the potential of glucose oxidase (GOD) as an antibiotic substitute to alleviate diarrhea and improve gut health in weaned piglets. According to a randomized complete block design, 250 piglets weaned around 21 d of age were allocated into 5 groups (5 replicates/group), which received a basal diet without or with supplemental 200 mg/kg antibiotic, 500, 1000 and 2000 U/kg GOD, respectively.
