Purpose Of Review: Techniques for rejuvenation of the ageing face continue to evolve rapidly as we gain further understanding of the ageing face. This article reviews various noninvasive, nonsurgical and surgical options in light of the recent clinical research and provides some pointers for management.

Recent Findings: The ageing of facial structures depends on genetic, anatomic, chronologic, and environmental factors. For optimal rejuvenation various anatomical structures should be treated in combination using appropriate modalities. This involves management of the skin envelope, subcutaneous tissues including facial fat compartments, muscles and bony skeleton. Treatment outcome may be measured using a validated, objective, quantitative facial grading scale.

Summary: A brief overview of the facial ageing process is presented, based on which a treatment plan is suggested in order to target specific anatomic structures. Recent literature pertaining to cosmoceuticals, injectables, lasers and surgical options is briefly discussed. It should be stressed that a thorough analysis of the ageing face is mandatory for planning appropriate treatment, monitoring, achieving optimal outcome, and furthering our knowledge.

Background/objectives: Facial bone density, including the jawbone, declines earlier than that of the lumbar spine and calcaneus. Calcium maltobionate is reported to mitigate bone resorption and maintain bone density of the lumbar spine in post-menopausal women, but its effects on facial bone density remain understudied. Therefore, this study compared variations in facial bone mineral density with variations in calcaneal bone mineral density and bone resorption markers among healthy women, examining differences between pre- and post-menopause and the effects of continuous calcium maltobionate intake.

As the face ages, the skin, fat, muscle, and fascia descend, and the underlying bone, cartilage, and teeth may lose mass. Oculofacial aging is a multifactorial process that is influenced by genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors. This review summarizes the patterns of oculofacial aging that are observed across populations, including variations in periorbital hollowing, eyelid ptosis, and skin elasticity.

Aging affects the face and eyebrow areas, with various resultant procedures for lifting the eyebrows. Recently, thread lifting using absorbable threads has become increasingly popular, with the advantages of a faster recovery and no visible scars, when compared with conventional facial rhytidectomy. Furthermore, polydioxanone (PDO) thread lifting is a favorable surgical method that has been used for eyebrow lifting.

: Due to the regeneration potential of growth factors (GFs) and platelet concentrates (PCs), facial rejuvenation has been a major area of attention in esthetic medicine. The effectiveness and safety of PCs and GFs in promoting face rejuvenation are examined in this systematic review, which is complemented by a case series. GFs are essential for collagen production and dermal matrix remodeling, while PCs, like Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP), are abundant in bioactive chemicals that promote tissue healing and cellular regeneration.
