An analysis of 2848 cases of complicated purulent diseases of upper extremities has determined the main errors of the prehospital treatment of the infection. Irrational self-reliant and ambulatory treatment resulted in the appearance of marked functional and anatomical defects of the affected extremity which lead to considerable economical costs. The following principal ways to solve the found problems were established: sanitary-educational work among the population, training of the ambulatory link of specialists to learn modern aspects of the diagnosis and treatment of purulent diseases of upper extremities.

A 71-year-old man complained of a blackish wound under his left eye, which began with fever and reddish spots after helping to slaughter a cow and cut its meat. The fever occured especially in the afternoon to evening, and is not accompanied by chills and sweating. On day 4 of fever onset, the fever diminished and the spots progressively widened with swelling.

Lagochilascariasis is a neglected zoonosis that affects domestic and wild mammals, including humans, and can form nodules, especially on the neck. Although emerging, it is considered a rare disease in the Americas and, therefore, the objective was to report an atypical case of recurrent otitis with the formation of polyps in the ear canal in a domestic feline associated with lagochilascariasis in Brazil. A cat had a purulent exudate in one of her ears and responded poorly to treatments.
