The availability of human neuronal progenitors (hNPs) in high purity would greatly facilitate neuronal drug discovery and developmental studies, as well as cell replacement strategies for neurodegenerative diseases and conditions, such as spinal cord injury, stroke, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, and Huntington's disease. Here we describe for the first time a method for producing hNPs in large quantity and high purity from human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) in feeder-free conditions, without the use of exogenous noggin, sonic hedgehog or analogs, rendering the process clinically compliant. The resulting population displays characteristic neuronal-specific markers. When allowed to spontaneously differentiate into neuronal subtypes in vitro, cholinergic, serotonergic, dopaminergic and/or noradrenergic, and medium spiny striatal neurons were observed. When transplanted into the injured spinal cord the hNPs survived, integrated into host tissue, and matured into a variety of neuronal subtypes. Our method of deriving neuronal progenitors from hESCs renders the process amenable to therapeutic and commercial use.

Polycyclic multiple resonance (MR) molecules reveal narrowband emission, making them very promising emitters for high color purity display. Nevertheless, they still have challenges such as aggregation-induced emission quenching and spectral broadening. Overcoming these obstacles requires an in-depth understanding of the correlations among the alterations in their geometries, packing structures, and molecular vibrations and their corresponding changes in their photoluminescence (PL) properties.

While synthesizing circular polymers with telechelic polyolefin building blocks recently emerged as a promising strategy for addressing conventional polyethylenes' sustainability challenges, the lack of telechelic PP (PP) with sufficient difunctional purity for polycondensation has been limiting the development of circular polypropylenes with PP-like structures and properties. Here we described a combined approach of coordinative chain transfer polymerization and transition-metal-catalyzed quenching reaction with various acyl chlorides, affording PPs with a high difunctional ratio (up to ∼99%) and broad end functional group scope. The steric effect of polymeryl-Zn species and the role of Pd catalyst were revealed by DFT.

Selective PDE4B radioligands hold significant potential for elucidating disease mechanisms, such as those in Parkinson's disease and schizophrenia, and enabling target occupancy measurements. In this study, we developed [ F]P4B-2412, a novel PDE4B-selective radioligand, and evaluated its utility for positron emission tomography imaging (PET).

Corn stover was used as raw material, and purification, oxalic acid treatment, oxidation treatment, and ultrasonic treatment were performed to realize the preparation of corn stover nanocellulose with low energy consumption. The effects of oxalic acid concentration (1 wt%, 2 wt%, 3 wt%, 4 wt%, and 5 wt%) on the purity, morphology, crystalline structure and oxidation efficiency of corn stover cellulose during oxalic acid treatment were investigated. The controllable preparation of corn stover nanocellulose was achieved by changing the parameter conditions of ultrasonic treatment.

The cellular uptake routes of peptides and proteins are complex and diverse, often handicapping therapeutic success. Understanding their mechanisms of internalization requires chemical derivatization with approaches that are compatible with wash-free and real-time imaging. In this work, we developed a new late-stage labeling strategy for unprotected peptides and proteins, which retains their biological activity while enabling live-cell imaging of uptake and intracellular trafficking.
