Objectives: Current diagnostic imaging modalities for resin-based composites (RBC) do not possess sufficient resolution and cross-sectional tomographic imaging to detect defects of RBC restorations in real-time. The purpose of this in vivo study was to investigate swept-source optical coherence tomography (SS-OCT) as a new tool to evaluate defects of RBC restorations.
Methods: We evaluated for the failure of RBC restorations in 52 patients (11 male, 41 female) at the Division of Oral and Dental Surgery, National Centre for Geriatrics and Gerontology, Japan. SS-OCT images of the 132 RBC restorations were obtained in order to investigate their marginal adaptation, porosity and internal integrity.
Results: Rates of defective restorations in terms of marginal adaptation, large porosity and gap formation were 65.2 percent, 27.3 percent, and 15.2 percent, respectively. Only 18.9 percent of the RBC restorations had no defects.
Conclusions: SS-OCT has the potential to provide higher-resolution information related to the structure of RBC restorations currently unavailable with any diagnostic or imaging method.

Purpose: To evaluate the color match and stability of single-shade resin-based composites (RBCs) in Class V restorations before and after ultra-violet light artificial aging.
Methods: Acrylic resin teeth of A1 and A3 were randomly assigned into seven groups to be restored with single-shade RBCs and universal-shade RBCs, shades A1 and A3. Standardized Class V cavities were restored using RBC and underwent accelerated aging for 480 hours.

Endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) aims at restoring blood flow in case of acute ischemic stroke by removing the thrombus occluding a large cerebral artery. During the procedure with stent-retriever, the thrombus is captured within the device, which is then retrieved, subjecting the thrombus to several forces, potentially leading to its fragmentation. In silico studies, along with mechanical characterisation of thrombi, can enhance our understanding of the EVT, helping the development of new devices and interventional strategies.

To investigate the remediation effect of iron-manganese-modified biochar from different biomasses (FM-BC) on Cd-contaminated alkaline soil, FM-BC was prepared using branches of , durian shells, and corn stalks. The characteristics of FM-BC, the adsorption of Cd(Ⅱ) in water, and the available, fraction of Cd in alkaline soil were studied using bath adsorption and soil culture experiments. The results showed that the specific surface area, total pore volume, and oxygen content of FM-BC were significantly improved.

Immunomodulators play a crucial role in maintaining overall health and enhancing the body's defense against various diseases. In Indonesian traditional medicinal practices, meniran (Phyllanthus niruri L.) and temu mangga rhizome (Curcuma mangga Val) are well-regarded for their health benefits and therapeutic properties.

The study comprehensively investigated the therapeutic potential of triterpenoid saponin extract (GST), encompassing its hepatoprotective, immunomodulatory, and anticancer activities. The study employed a Prednisolone (PRD)-induced immunosuppressed rat model to assess the hepatoprotective and immunomodulatory effects of GST. Using this model, GST was found to modulate haematopoiesis, improving RBC, platelet, and WBC counts, underscoring its potential in hematopoietic homeostasis.
