On the basis of the fact that a hard-edged aperture function can be expressed as finite matrices with different weighting coefficients, we obtain the analytical formula for the propagation of the broadband gaussian Schell-model (BGSM) beam through the apertured fractional Fourier transformation (AFrFT) system. It is shown by numerical examples that the intensity distribution in the plane of a small fractional order is obviously influenced by the bandwidth when the BGSM beams propagate through the AFrFT system. Further extensions are also pointed out.

We demonstrate experimentally an efficient terahertz emitter that consists of a 20 µm thick layer of LiNbO clamped between a fused silica substrate and a Si semicone. A focused laser beam from an ultrafast optical oscillator propagates in the LiNbO layer and emits a Cherenkov cone of terahertz radiation to the Si semicone. The radiation is totally internally reflected by the semicone's convex surface and escapes the semicone through its base as a collimated beam.

Multiband (MB) optical transmission targets increasing the capacity of operators' optical transport networks. However, nonlinear impairments (NLI) affect each optical channel in the C+L+S bands differently, and, therefore, the routing and spectrum assignment (RSA) problem needs to be complemented with fast and accurate tools to consider the quality of transmission (QoT) within the provisioning process. This paper proposes a digital twin-assisted approach for lightpath provisioning to provide a complete solution for the RSA problem that ensures the required QoT in MB optical networks.

During the 2016-2017 Canada Basin Acoustic Propagation Experiment, an ocean acoustic tomography array with a radius of 150 km measured the impulse responses of the ocean every 4 hr at a variety of ranges and bearings using broadband signals with center frequencies from 172.5 to 275 Hz. Ice-profiling sonar data showed a gradual increase in ice draft over the winter with daily median ice drafts reaching maxima of about 1.

Currently, perfect absorption properties of metamaterials have attracted widespread interest in the area of solar energy. Ultra-broadband absorption, incidence angle insensitivity, and polarization independence are key performance indicators in the design of the absorbers. In this work, we proposed a metamaterial absorber based on the absorption mechanism with multiple resonances, including propagation surface plasmon resonance (PSPR), localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR), electric dipole resonance (EDR), and magnetic dipole resonance (MDR).

In this paper, we have investigated a hybrid metamaterial seven-layer solar absorber. The absorber has remarkable characteristics, including ultra-broadband perfect absorption capability, near-perfect absorption at wide angles, and insensitivity to polarization. The structure exhibits an average absorption of 98.
