Background: This retrospective cohort study analyses effectiveness and sustainability of the current cardiac Phase III (Ph-III) rehabilitation program, provided by the Centre for Outpatient Rehabilitation (ZAR).
Methods: We analysed routine data of 451 intervention group patients (IG, with Ph-III) and 781 control group patients (KG, without Ph-III).
Results: In a median observation period of 2.73 years we found 30% less cases of death in the IG based on the mortality risk observed in the KG (rr = 0.70; p = 0.108). However, we registered more re-events, mainly stent implantations in the IG (rr = 1.34; p = 0.095). Groups differed in some baseline characteristics.
Conclusions: The lower mortality risk by trend might be explained by the close-meshed care, the IG patients' more health conscious behaviour or a selection bias of the KG (e.g. more severe underlying disease). The causality of potential positive effects cannot be confirmed by this study because of the study design.

: Transitional attachment objects, such as blankets, play a critical role in childhood by helping children manage separation anxiety and regulate emotions. Although attachment to these objects often decreases as children grow older, it may persist into adulthood and influence emotion regulation and stress responses. Their influence on emotion regulation in adulthood remains uncertain.

Background: Excessive supraventricular ectopic activity (ESVEA) is regarded as a risk marker for later atrial fibrillation (AF) detection.
Methods And Results: The investigator-initiated, prospective, open, multicenter MonDAFIS (Impact of Standardized Monitoring for Detection of Atrial Fibrillation in Ischemic Stroke) study randomized 3465 patients with acute ischemic stroke without known AF 1:1 to usual diagnostic procedures for AF detection or additive Holter monitoring in hospital for up to 7 days, analyzed in a core laboratory. Secondary study objectives include the comparison of recurrent stroke, myocardial infarction, major bleeding, and all-cause death within 24 months in patients with ESVEA (defined as ectopic supraventricular beats ≥480/day or atrial runs of 10-29 seconds or both) versus patients with newly diagnosed AF versus patients without ESVEA or AF (non-ESVEA/AF), randomized to the intervention group.

Background: DeBakey type I aortic dissections (AD) are most frequently treated with hemiarch repair. A subset of patients demonstrates persistent distal end-organ ischemia secondary to persistent true lumen (TL) compression. We describe the use of bare metal stent grafting across the residual arch dissection with the Zenith Dissection Endovascular Stent (ZDES, Cook Medical) in 7 patients with type I AD that was repaired in a hemiarch configuration with a compromised distal TL and organ malperfusion.

Objectives: To investigate the predictive value of myocardial strain for cardiotoxicity associated with fluorouracil-based chemotherapies in gastrointestinal cancer patients.
Methods: Patients with diagnosis of gastrointestinal cancers, who were hospitalized for chemotherapy involving antimetabolic drugs, were eligible in this prospective study. Echocardiography was performed before and after each chemotherapy cycle during hospitalization until the completion of chemotherapy.

Purpose: To correct maternal breathing and fetal bulk motion during fetal 4D flow MRI.
Methods: A Doppler-ultrasound fetal cardiac-gated free-running 4D flow acquisition was corrected post hoc for maternal respiratory and fetal bulk motion in separate automated steps, with optional manual intervention to assess and limit fetal motion artifacts. Compressed-sensing reconstruction with a data outlier rejection algorithm was adapted from previous work.
