The aim of this study was to assess the utility of CHROMID Colistin R for direct detection of colistin-resistant Gram-negative bacteria from positive blood cultures. A total of 390 blood cultures from hospitalised patients containing Gram-negative bacteria were included in this study. These blood cultures were referred to clinical laboratories in the United Kingdom and Türkiye.

In Uganda, the challenge of generating and timely reporting essential antimicrobial resistance (AMR) data has led to overreliance on empirical antibiotic therapy, exacerbating the AMR crisis. To address this issue, this study aimed to adapt a one-step AMR testing protocol alongside an SMS (Short Message Service) result relay system (SRRS), with the potential to reduce the turnaround time for AMR testing and result communication from 4 days or more to 1 day in Ugandan clinical microbiology laboratories. Out of the 377 samples examined, 54 isolates were obtained.

Five commercially available selective agar were evaluated regarding sensitivity and specificity to detect vancomycin-resistant () . Altogether 187 strains were included, comprising 119 -carrying strains (phenotypically vancomycin-resistant = 105; phenotypically vancomycin-susceptible VVE-B = 14) and 68 vancomycin-susceptible isolates. Limit of detection was calculated for each selective agar for pure cultures, stool suspensions and artificial rectal swabs.

Agrobacterium fabrum has been critical for the development of plant genetic engineering and agricultural biotechnology due to its ability to transform eukaryotic cells. However, the gene composition, evolutionary dynamics, and niche adaptation of this species is still unknown. Therefore, we established a comparative genomic analysis based on a pan-chromosome data set to evaluate the genetic diversity of .

Background: Colistin is an antibiotic of last resort in the management of highly drug-resistant Enterobacterales infections. Travel to some destinations presents a high risk of acquiring multidrug-resistant Enterobacterales, but little data are available on the risk of acquiring colistin-resistant strains. Here, we use the VOYAG-R sample collection (2012-2013) in order to evaluate the rate of acquisition of colistin-resistant Enterobacterales, excluding species with intrinsic resistance (CRE), following travel to tropical regions.
