Gallbladder duplication with an incidence at autopsy of about 1 in 4000 is important in clinical practice, because it may cause some clinical, surgical, and diagnostic problems. Preoperative identification of this rare anomaly avoids biliary injuries and the other consequences of missed diagnosis. In this report, we present a case of ductular type duplex gallbladder diagnosed preoperatively by magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRCP) and ultrasound and managed successfully by laparoscopy.

Duplication of the vermiform appendix is a rare anomaly observed in patients undergoing appendectomy. A 27-month-old male toddler presented with a 9-day history of abdominal pain, vomiting, and diarrhea, progressing to an acute abdomen with signs of severe peritonitis. Intraoperative findings revealed a periappendicular infiltrate from a perforated vermiform appendix of the tenia coli type.

Acute pancreatitis is a disease characterized by local destruction of the pancreatic gland due to premature activation of pancreatic enzymes within the acinar cells. Tissue damage can activate an inflammatory cascade, which can lead to systemic complications. Although vascular complications are uncommon, they significantly contribute to mortality and morbidity.

Duplex stainless steels, known for their excellent corrosion resistance, are employed in a variety of chloride solutions-acidic, neutral, and alkaline-due to a stable passive film that forms on their surfaces. This study involved polarization tests, EIS (Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy) measurements, Mott-Schottky plots, and XPS (X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy) analyses in both static and dynamic conditions across acidic (1NaCl + 0.1N HCl, pH 1.

Background: Penile dynamic color doppler duplex ultrasound (CDDU) is a relevant tool in assessing men with suspected vasculogenic erectile dysfunction (V-ED).
Aim: To investigate (1) factors potentially associated with V-ED to define risk classes useful in predicting V-ED; (2) the response to phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors (PDE5i); and (3) the onset of incident major cardiovascular (CV) events.
Methods: A cohort of men with ED and without known concomitant CVD was grouped into: patients undergoing CDDU (N.

In this work, strategies for the detection of pyrimidine-rich DNA target sequences based on the formation of duplex and antiparallel triplex structures are studied. The presence of the target is detected from the changes in fluorescence of silver nanoclusters stabilized by the corresponding complementary DNA probes. In all cases, the formation of intermolecular structures has been assessed by means of melting experiments and multivariate analysis.
