A variety of factors are critical for the success of bowel anastomoses. The most crucial patient factor is adequate vascularity of the bowel ends which are to be anastomosed. Currently, intraoperative features such as healthy looking bleeding edges of the bowel are considered to be signs of adequate vascular supply. However, once the anastomosis is performed, external appearances may not be reliable. In order to improve evaluation of the bowel as well as the anastomosis, our group has adopted the routine use of post-anastomosis intraoperative colonoscopy. Intraoperative colonoscopy provides vital information regarding the integrity of the anastomosis (leak testing) and also visualizes the mucosa of the bowel. Narrow Band Imaging (NBI) is a novel real-time imaging technique which is an integral component of many modern colonoscopes. We hypothesize that NBI assessment of vascularity at the time of intestinal anastomosis can improve safety and reduce the risks of anastomotic complications following surgery.

Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin condition characterized by hyperproliferation of keratinocytes and immune dysregulation. Narrow band ultraviolet B (NB-UVB) phototherapy is a common treatment for psoriasis due to its efficacy and safety profile. NOD2 is an intracellular pattern recognition receptor involved in immune responses and inflammation, and its expression is elevated in psoriatic skin.

Graphitic carbon nitride (g-CN) is a useful photocatalyst applied in various areas. However, it has some disadvantages that limit its applications. Therefore, doping and the construction of a heterojunction are beneficial methods to overcome these drawbacks.

Background: Diagnosis of sarcoidosis often involves endobronchial biopsy (EBB), but studies have shown varying yields for EBB in suspected sarcoidosis, partly due to differences in identifying abnormal mucosa under white light (WL). Narrow band imaging (NBI) may assist in the visualization of abnormal mucosa, but its role in sarcoidosis remains to be characterized.
Methods: Individuals referred for suspected sarcoidosis were considered for enrollment.

Dark current density, a critical parameter in perovskite photodetectors (PPDs), largely depends on the quality of the perovskite film. Herein, we introduce a new small molecule in antisolvent strategy to enhance perovskite film quality during the crystallization of Cs(FAMA)Pb(IBr). COTIC-4Cl, an N-type narrow bandgap nonfullerene small molecule with specific functional group, could strongly bind to the uncoordinated Pb in the perovskite with assistance of antisolvent, enabling rapid supersaturation of perovskite solution and form dense structures under low-temperature annealing.

Van der Waals (vdWs) materials are promising candidates for hetero-integration with silicon photonics toward miniaturization and integration. VdWs materials like molybdenum telluride and black phosphorus, despite being prominent, exhibit air sensitivity, and their room temperature emissions can be significantly broadened by tens of meV. Here, a self-encapsulation strategy is developed to scalably synthesize robust 2D vdWs ErOCl with sub-meV narrow emissions at the telecom C-band.
