Case: We present a 79-year-old woman with a complex elbow fracture including a comminuted proximal ulna fracture, coronoid process fracture, and comminuted radial head fracture treated with primary total elbow arthroplasty (TEA). The patient completed an early therapy protocol and had complete healing. At 15 months postoperatively, she had full pronosupination and elbow arc of motion from 10 to 135° with no reported pain.

Purposes: The objective of this study was to investigate intra-articular distal radius fractures, aiming to provide a comprehensive analysis of fracture patterns and discuss the corresponding treatment strategies for each pattern.

Methods: 294 cases of intra-articular distal radius fractures lines were collected and clustered thorough K-means and hierarchical clustering algorithm. The demographic data of patients and the clinical treatment outcomes were recorded.

The authors present the case of a six-year-old boy with a fractured right distal radius and ulna, causing mildly comminuted displaced angulated fractures of the right distal radial and ulnar metaphyses. Pediatric wrist fractures are amongst the most common fractures seen in children, making up 25% of all pediatric fractures. These fractures disrupt growth patterns and can lead to long-term adverse effects.

Application of Hybrid External Skeletal Fixation with Bone Tissue Engineering Techniques for Comminuted Fracture of the Proximal Radius in a Dog.

Animals (Basel)

December 2024

Department of Veterinary Medicine, College of Veterinary Medicine and Institute of Veterinary Science, Kangwon National University, Chuncheon 24341, Republic of Korea.

A seven-month-old male Pomeranian presented with left forelimb lameness after a fall. Radiographic assessment confirmed proximal radial head and ulnar comminuted fracture. The initial surgical intervention involved the use of hybrid external skeletal fixation (ESF) to stabilize the radial head, concomitant with the application of a composite of bone morphogenetic protein type 2 (BMP-2)-loaded hydroxyapatite and gelatin microparticles at the fracture site.

Introduction And Importance: Ipsilateral proximal and distal radius fractures without elbow dislocation are extremely rare injuries and a few cases have been reported. Currently, there is no well-established consensus regarding their optimal management.

Case Presentation: We report the case of a 57-year-old woman who had a right bipolar radius fracture after falling from a standing height.
