Mixed micellization of two cationic dimeric surfactants butanediyl-1,4-bis(alkyldimethylammonium bromide) [C(m)H(2m+1)N(+)(CH(3))(2)-(CH(2))(4)-N(+)(CH(3))(2)C(m)H(2m+1),2Br(-)] with their monomeric counterparts alkyltrimethylammonium bromides [C(m)H(2m+1)N(+)(CH(3))(3)Br(-)](m=14 and 16) has been studied at different temperatures (298.15-323.15K) in presence and absence of ethylene glycol (EG) using conductivity data. Steady state fluorescence quenching (SSFQ) measurements were performed to estimate the average aggregation number (N(agg)) of the mixed micelles at 298.15K. The ideal cmc values, experimental and ideal micellar compositions, interaction parameters, activity coefficients of the components, etc. have been evaluated by considering theoretical models of Clint, Rubingh and Rodenas. The analysis reveals that the fraction of the monomeric surfactant in the mixed micelles is higher than the expected ideal micellar mole fraction, and in most of the cases mixed micelles of the studied components become more ideal in the presence of EG.

Background: Understanding the size and surface charge (ζ-potential) of particles in the mixed micellar fraction produced by in vitro digestion is crucial to understand their cellular absorption and transport. The inconsistent presentation of micellar size data, often limited to average particle diameter, makes comparison of studies difficult. The present study aimed to assess different size data representations (mean particle diameter, relative intensity- or volume-weighted size distribution) to better understand physiological mixed micelle characteristics and to provide recommendations for size reporting and sample handling.

In the present study, the mixed micellization behavior of gemini surfactant-1, 5-bis (N-hexadecyl- N, N-dimethylammonium) pentane dibromide (G5) with non-ionic surfactant triton X-100 (TX-100) was investigated in the micellar phase by utilizing the conductometric technique. The deviation of ideal critical micelle concentration (cmc*) from experimental critical micelle concentration (cmc) has been estimated using well-known Clint's theory of mixed micelles. The regular solution approximation was used to determine the interaction parameter (β) and found to be negative.

In this study, a Chitosan/poly (dimethyl diallyl ammonium chloride-co-acrylamide) composite hydrogel (CPDA hydrogel) featuring a semi-interpenetrating network structure was synthesized via free radical copolymerization for the removal of the anionic dye Congo Red (CR) from wastewater.
