Background: In this study, we explored the correlations between heart rate variability indexes and some biochemical markers during the third trimester of normal, hypertensive, and preeclamptic pregnancies.

Methods And Results: The obtained indexes are associated with complexity and spectral variables calculated from short electrocardiographic records.

Conclusions:  Including all the subjects in the analysis, we found that complexity indexes are positively related with hemoglobin concentration in the pathologic group and uric acid blood levels whereas low frequency (LF) was negatively correlated with uric acid and creatinine concentration as well as positively correlated with platelet levels. The LF was the only spectral region with significant correlation. Through an independent analysis of groups, only significant correlations were found in normal and preeclamptic groups between LF and uric acid concentration and in normal and hypertensive groups for LF and creatinine blood levels.

Stem cells prevent long-term deterioration of renal function after renal artery revascularization in a renovascular hypertension model in rats.

Sci Rep

January 2025

Renal Division, Department of Medicine, Universidade Federal de São Paulo, Rua Pedro de Toledo, 781, São Paulo, SP, 04039-032, Brazil.

Partial stenosis of the renal artery causes renovascular hypertension (RVH) and is accompanied by chronic renal ischemia, resulting in irreversible kidney damage. Revascularization constitutes the most efficient therapy for normalizing blood pressure (BP) and has significant benefits for renal function; however, the tissue damage caused by chronic hypoxia is not fully reversed. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have produced discrete results in minimizing RVH and renal tissue and functional improvements since the obstruction persists.

Background: Preeclampsia is a major hypertensive disorder of pregnancy, which may lead to severe complications, particularly in the first two weeks of the postpartum period. During the postpartum period, blood pressure levels remain high, often increasing to levels higher than those experienced during pregnancy. Furosemide, a fast-acting diuretic, reduces the intravascular volume overload and may represent an alternative to accelerate the normalization of blood pressure levels.

Association between Pre-pregnancy BMI and Pregnancy Outcomes in Women with Gestational Diabetes: A Retrospective Cohort Study.

Pak J Med Sci

January 2025

Lin Lin Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Fujian Maternity and Child Health Hospital, College of Clinical Medicine for Obstetrics & Gynecology and Pediatrics, Fujian Medical, University, Fuzhou, Fujian, China.

Background & Objective: The specific influence of the pre-pregnancy body mass index (PPBMI) on women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is unclear. Our objective was to investigate how PPBMI categories affect pregnancy and neonatal outcomes in women with GDM.

Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted using data from patients attending the Fujian Maternity and Child Health Hospital (Fuzhou, China) from 2021 to 2023.

Background: Association of serum vitamin D (vitD) with leptin (Lep) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) is not precisely known in overweight hypertensive (OW-HT) postmenopausal (PMP) women. Hence, the present study was carried out to investigate the body mass index (BMI)-based correlation of serum vitD with Lep and TNF-α in OW-HT PMP women.

Methods: Women subjects in their early PMP (n = 346, age: 51 - 60 years) categorized into three groups had main inclusion criteria of specified range of age, BMI and blood pressure (BP).
