Unlabelled: We describe a technique to stain the anterior lens capsule with micronized triamcinolone to perform a continuous curvilinear capsulorhexis (CCC) during phacoemulsification in the absence of a red reflex due to vitreous hemorrhage. After a self-sealing clear corneal tunnel incision is performed using a 2.75 mm blade, a dispersive ophthalmic viscosurgical device (OVD) is injected to protect the iridocorneal angle. An air bubble as large as possible is injected into the center of the anterior chamber, and a small amount of micronized triamcinolone is then injected as needed to stain the anterior lens capsule. The OVD injection permits the removal of excessive triamcinolone and protects the corneal endothelium from damage during phacoemulsification. A capsulorhexis forceps is used to perform the CCC.

A novel polymeric microsphere (MS) containing micronized triamcinolone acetonide (TA) in a crystalline state was structured to provide extended drug retention in joints after intra-articular (IA) injection. Intratympanic glucocorticoid therapy aims to reduce the side effects associated with systemic long-time therapy of inner ear diseases or traumata after cochlear implantation. For that purpose, thermoreversible hydrogels being fluid at room temperature but solid at body temperature are known to be appropriate drug delivery systems. In this work, the two key parameters sol-gel transition time and temperature of Poloxamer 407 (POX 407) based hydrogels containing oto-compatible micronized triamcinolone acetonide (TAAc) were evaluated by rheological experiments varying the concentrations of the different compounds.

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of coating on the aerosolization of three model micronized powders. Three model powder materials (salbutamol sulphate, salmeterol xinafoate, triamcinolone acetonide) were chosen not only for their different chemical properties but also for their different physical properties such as shape and size distribution. Each powder was coated with 5% (w/w) magnesium stearate using two different dry mechanofusion approaches.
