The mol-ecular packing of the title compound, C(17)H(17)Cl(2)NO(2)S, is stabilized by weak C-H⋯O and C-H⋯Cl inter-actions. The ester chain is almost planar with a mean deviation of 0.0605 Å and makes dihedral angles of 71.60 (4) and 74.70 (8)° with the benzene ring and the thio-phene ring, respectively. The benzene and thio-phene rings make a dihedral angle of 84.22 (7)°.

Manganese oxides with porous structure and abundant active sites show potential in degrading sulfur mustard (HD). However, there is an interface effect between the oily liquid HD and nano oxides, and the powder is prone to agglomeration, which leads to incomplete contact and limited degradation ability. Here, we demonstrate a simple hydrothermal method for preparing MnO/TiC composites to address this problem.

The title compound, CHClNO, consists of a 1,2-di-hydro-quinoline-4-carb-oxyl-ate unit with 2-chloro-ethyl and propynyl substituents, where the quinoline moiety is almost planar and the propynyl substituent is nearly perpendicular to its mean plane. In the crystal, the mol-ecules form zigzag stacks along the -axis direction through slightly offset π-stacking inter-actions between inversion-related quinoline moieties which are tied together by inter-molecular C-H⋯O and C-H⋯O (Prpnyl = propynyl, Carbx = carboxyl-ate and Chlethy = chloro-eth-yl) hydrogen bonds. The Hirshfeld surface analysis of the crystal structure indicates that the most important contributions for the crystal packing are from H⋯H (29.

Chemical warfare agents pose significant threats in the 21st century, especially for armed forces. A colorimetric detection array was developed to identify warfare mimics, including mustard gas and nerve agents. In total, 188 sensors were screened to determine the best sensor performance, in order to identify warfare mimics 2-chloro ethyl ethylsulfide, 2-2'-thiodiethanol, trifluoroacetic acid, methylphosphonic acid, dimethylphosphite, diethylcyanophosphonate, and diethyl (methylthiomethyl)phosphonate.

Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering, Chung Cheng Institute of Technology, National Defense University, Taoyuan, Taiwan.

Inorganic metal oxides AgO, CuO and ZnO were examined using SEM, XRD, TGA and ICP spectroscopy to analyze their structures and physical properties in terms of resistance to germs and toxic chemicals. Zone of inhibition testing and the plate-counting method were used in this study to examine the antibacterial activities of the metal oxides against Gram-negative Escherichia coli (E. coli) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (P.

Little is known about the impact of emissions of micropollutants from small and large-scale sewage treatment plants (STPs) on drinking water source areas. We investigated a populated catchment that drains into Lake Mälaren, which is the drinking water source for around 2 million people including the inhabitants of Stockholm, Sweden. To assess the persistence, mobility, bioavailability and bioaccumulation of 32 structurally diverse emerging organic contaminants, sediment, integrated passive and grab water samples were collected along the catchment of the River Fyris, Sweden.
