The title compound, C(20)H(15)N(3)OS, is a 1H-pyrazol-3(2H)-one having aromatic 4-(1,3-benzothia-zol-2-yl) and 2-phenyl substit-uents. The five-membered ring and the fused-ring system are close to planar, the r.m.s. deviations being 0.025 and 0.005 Å, respectively. The five-membered ring is aligned at 67.5 (1)° with respect to the phenyl ring and at 4.7 (1)° with respect to the fused-ring system. In the crystal, adjacent mol-ecules are linked through the acetyl-enic H atom by a C-H⋯O hydrogen bond into C(8) chains propagating in [010].

Transforming an azaarene into the spine of fusedbicyclics via cycloaddition-induced scaffold hopping of 5-Hydroxypyrazoles.

Skeleton editing for heteroarenes, especially pyrazoles, is challenging and remains scarce because these non-strained aromatics exhibit inert reactivities, making them relatively inactive for performing a dearomatization/cleavage sequence. Here, we disclose a cycloaddition-induced scaffold hopping of 5-hydroxypyrazoles to access the pyrazolopyridopyridazin-6-one skeleton through a single-operation protocol. By converting a five-membered aza-arene into a five-unit spine of a 6/6 fused-bicyclic, this work unlocks a ring-opening reactivity of the pyrazole core that involves a formal C = N bond cleavage while retaining the highly reactive N-N bond in the resulting product.

Among lanthanide-based single-molecule magnets (SMMs), erbium(III) is a Kramers ion, apart from dysprosium(III), which provides magnetic bistability in the presence of a suitable coordination environment. However, Er-based SMMs exhibit significantly less magnetic anisotropy than Dy because their prolate electronic density necessitates equatorially correlated ligands to minimize the charge contact with the Er atom. Here, in this work, we have computationally investigated the heteroleptic organometallic complexes with an Er(III) atom sandwiched between two distinct cyclic rings (five- and eight-membered) with the aim of tuning the magnetic anisotropy via exploiting the ligand field.

BN-Acene Ladder with Enhanced Charge Transport for Organic Field-Effect Transistors.

Angew Chem Int Ed Engl

December 2024

Tsinghua University, Department of Chemistry, 1 Qinghuayuan, Haidian District, 100084, Beijing, CHINA.

The in-depth research on the charge transport properties of BN-embedded polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (BN-PAHs) still lags far behind studies of their emitting properties. Herein, we report the successfully synthesis of novel ladder-type BN-PAHs (BCNL1 and BCNL2) featuring a highly ordered BC3N2 acene unit, achieved via a nitrogen-directed tandem C-H borylation. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis unambiguously revealed their unique and compact herringbone packing structures.

Skeletal editing represents an attractive strategy for adding complexity to a given molecular scaffold in chemical synthesis. Isodesmic reactions provide a complementary skeletal editing approach for the redistribution of chemical bonds in chemical synthesis. However, catalytic enantioselective isodesmic reaction is extremely scarce and enantioselective isodesmic reaction to synthesize atropisomeric compounds is unknown.

Exploring -Lipoic Acid Based Thermoplastic Silicone Adhesive: Towards Sustainable and Green Recycling.

Polymers (Basel)

November 2024

Key Laboratory of Advanced Textile Materials and Manufacturing Technology and Engineering Research Center for Eco-Dyeing & Finishing of Textiles, Ministry of Education, Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, Hangzhou 310018, China.

Considering the demand for the construction of a sustainable future, it is essential to endow the conventional thermoset silicone adhesive with reuse capability and recyclability. Although various research attempts have been made by incorporating reversible linkages, developing sustainable silicone adhesives by natural linkers is still challenging, as the interface between the natural linker and the silicone is historically difficult. We exploited the possibility of utilizing -lipoic acid, a natural linker, to construct a sustainable silicone adhesive.
