The crystal packing of the title compound, C(8)H(12)N(+)·ClO(4) (-), is stabilized by N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, the protonated amine group acting as a hydrogen-bond donor with the perchlorate O atoms as acceptors. These connect neighbouring cations and anions, forming a two-dimensional network. Variable-temperature dielectric constant measurements on the salt indicated that no distinct phase transition occurred within the measured temperature range of 80-293 K.

Increasing the Orthogonality of 4-Pyridiniophenols: An NMR Study of Their Solvatomagnetism.

The H- and C-NMR spectra of three substituted N-(4-hydroxyphenyl)pyridinium perchlorates, precursors of solvatochromic 4-pyridiniophenolate betaines, were recorded in deuterated acetone, dimethylsulfoxide, and acetonitrile, and their spectral behavior in these solvents was analyzed as evidence of the solute-solvent interactions present in solution. The effect of the increasing orthogonality between the phenolic and pyridinium fragments was clearly evident from the obtained spectra, thus shedding light on the ground-state structures of their deprotonated solvatochromic derivatives and their interactions with the solvent.

Classified as endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs), perchlorate, nitrate, and thiocyanate have been implicated with obesity and reproductive disorders. This study used three cycles of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES 2013-2018); 813 women of reproductive age were finally included. We used multivariable logistic regression to analyze the associations between the three anions and obesity and infertility.

Anions play a crucial role in various environmental, chemical, and biological processes. Among various anions, the production of perchlorate (ClO ) ion is expected to rise in upcoming years, and thus, an efficient method for the detection of perchlorate ion is highly desirable. In this effort, a pyridyl-benzimidazole-based luminescent probe (RSB1) containing two N-H donor sites has been synthesized for selective detection of perchlorate ion.
