The title complex, [Ag(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)(C(32)H(30)N(2)P(2))](ClO(4))(2)·2CH(3)COCH(3), is a centrosymmetric dimer with pairs of Ag(I) atoms bridged by N,N'-bis-(diphenyl-phosphinometh-yl)ben-zene-1,4-diamine ligands. In addition, each Ag(I) atom is coordin-ated by one chelating 2,2'-bipyridine ligand, giving a distorted trigonal coordination environment.

The crystal structure of the title salt, CHN ·2ClO , has been determined using synchrotron radiation at 220 (2) K. The structure determination reveals that protonation has occurred at diagonally opposite amine N atoms. The asymmetric unit comprises one half of the organic dication, which lies about a center of inversion, and one perchlorate anion.

The asymmetric unit of the title com-pound, -poly[[[(perchlorato-κ)copper(II)]-μ-3-(3-carb-oxy-prop-yl)-1,5,8,12-tetra-aza-3-azonia-cyclo-tetra-decane-κ , , , ] bis-(per-chlorate)], {[Cu(CHNO)(ClO)](ClO)} , (I), consists of a macrocyclic cation, one coordinated per-chlorate anion and two per-chlorate ions as counter-anions. The metal ion is coordinated in a tetra-gonally distorted octa-hedral geometry by the four secondary N atoms of the macrocyclic ligand, the mutually O atoms of the per-chlorate anion and the carbonyl O atom of the protonated carb-oxy-lic acid group of a neighbouring cation. The average equatorial Cu-N bond lengths [2.

The complete cation in the title compound, [Cu(C(40)H(48)N(4))](ClO(4))(2), is generated by the operation of a crystallographic centre of inversion. The Cu(II) ion exists in a tetra-gonally distorted trans-N(4)O(2) coordination geometry defined by the four N atoms of the macrocyclic ligand and two weakly bound perchlorate-O atoms from two anions. The N-H atoms form intra-molecular N-H⋯O(perchlorate) hydrogen bonds.

In the cation of the title compound, [Mn(C(11)H(13)N(5))(2)](ClO(4))(2)·CH(3)CN, the metal atom is located on a twofold rotation axis and is six-coordinated by six N atoms from two different 2,6-bis-(4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazol-2-yl)pyridine (bip) ligands in a distorted octahedral geometry. The O atoms of the perchlorate anions are disordered with occupancies in the ratio 0.593 (10):0.
