In the title mononuclear complex, [Ni(C(3)H(2)O(4))(C(15)H(10)N(4))(H(2)O)]·3H(2)O, the metal center is coordinated in a distorted NiN(3)O(3) geometry. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the components into a two-dimensional network. In addition, there are weak π-π stacking inter-actions between symmetry-related phenanthroline rings, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.6253 (17) Å.

Nanotechnology research is emerging as cutting-edge technology, and nanoparticles (NPs) and nanocomposites (NCs) have played a significant role in the bioremediation and treatment of polluted water by organic and nonorganic materials. Nanoparticles produced by plant extracts are more stable and biocompatible in comparison with those produced by physical and chemical methods. This research focuses on the synthesis of NiO NPs and Cu-NiO NCs using L'Herit (P.

A one-dimensional nickel(II) coordination polymer with the mixed ligands 6-fluoro-nicotinate (6-Fnic) and 4,4'-bi-pyridine (4,4'-bpy), namely, -poly[[di-aqua-bis-(6-fluoro-pyridine-3-carboxyl-ato-κ)nickel(II)]-μ-4,4'-bi-pyri-dine-κ :'] trihydrate], {[Ni(6-Fnic)(4,4'-bpy)(HO)]·3HO} , (), was prepared by the reaction of nickel(II) sulfate hepta-hydrate, 6-fluoro-nicotinic acid (CHFNO) and 4,4'-bi-pyridine (CHN) in a mixture of water and ethanol. The nickel(II) ion in is octa-hedrally coordinated by the O atoms of two water mol-ecules, two O atoms from -monodentate 6-fluoro-nicotinate ligands and two N atoms from bridging 4,4'-bi-pyridine ligands, forming a isomer. The bridging 4,4'-bi-pyridine ligands connect symmetry-related nickel(II) ions into infinite one-dimensional polymeric chains running in the [10] direction.

The crystal structure of the Ni-14 macrocycle salt, (5,7,7,12,12,14-hexa-methyl-1,4,8,11-tetra-aza-cyclo-tetra-deca-ne)nickel(II) bis-(perchlorate) hemihydrate, [Ni(CHN)](ClO)·HO, contains two different diasteriomeric macrocyclic cations in the asymmetric unit, one with two NH protons on each side of the cation (), and the other with all four NH protons on the same side (). The crystal structure of the bromide trihydrate salt of the same Ni-14 macrocyclic cation, namely (5,7,7,12,12,14-hexa-methyl-1,4,8,11-tetra-aza-cyclo-tetra-deca-ne)nickel(II) dibromide trihydrate, [Ni(CHN)]Br·3HO (), contains only the same diastereomer as , with the four N-H bonds on the same side. The geometry around the Ni atom differs slightly between the two diastereomeric cations, as the mean Ni-N distance in is 1.

A series of mononuclear complexes of divalent nickel and zinc with N-(4-methoxyphenyl)-2-(propan-2-ylidene)hydrazine carbothioamide (H2Lmethoxy) as well as with N-(4-nitrophenyl)-2-(propan-2-ylidene)hydrazine carbothioamide (H2Lnitro) have been structurally characterised. Among these two ligands, H2Lnitro formed an analogous copper(ii) complex to that of nickel and zinc, whereas H2Lmethoxy undergoes a catalytic cyclisation reaction in the presence of copper(ii) nitrate trihydrate. Control experiments based on ESR have revealed that copper(ii) is reduced to copper(i) and reverts back to copper(ii) as the cyclisation reaction proceeds, generating a catalytic reaction.
