The title compound, C(21)H(21)N(3)O(2), was obtained following a five-step synthetic procedure yielding weakly diffracting rod and needle-shaped crystals which crystallized concomitantly. Structural analysis of a rod-shaped crystal showed that the central seven-membered heterocyclic ring adopts a conformation that is perhaps best described as a distorted boat, with the H-bearing (CH(2) and NH) atoms lying well out of the least-squares mean plane fitted through the other five atoms in the ring (r.m.s. deviation 0.075 Å). In the crystal, the compound packs as a twisted chain, which propagates along the b axis by means of an R(1) (2)(6) motif formed by one of the carbonyl O atoms acting as a bifurcated acceptor in an N-H⋯O and C-H⋯O inter-action. No diffraction was observed from the needle-shaped crystals.

A novel organic-inorganic eutectic phase change material (PCM) based on sodium acetate trihydrate (SAT) and polyethylene glycol (PEG) was developed to meet the needs of heat recovery and building heating. Three kinds of PEG with different molecular weights were selected to form organic-inorganic eutectic PCM with SAT. The thermal properties of three series of SAT-PEG eutectic PCM were compared based on DSC results, focusing on the impact of PEG addition on the phase change temperature and enthalpy of SAT, as well as the melting uniformity.

The ferulic acid (FA) / monoglyceride (MG) mixture could act as a gelator to structure sunflower oil at the gelator concentration () ≥ 4 % and the FA/MG ratios () of 0:100, 25:75, 50:50 and 75:25. The rectangular FA and needle-shaped MG crystals in the oleogel interlock with each other to form a 3D network, restricting the flow of oil. The gel strength and rheological performance of the oleogel were positively correlated with and negatively correlated with storage temperature ().

The title compound, a hydrate of 3,5-di-amino-1,2,4-triazole (DATA), CHN·HO, was synthesized in the presence of sodium perchlorate. The evaporation of HO from its aqueous solution resulted in anhydrous DATA, suggesting that sodium perchlorate was required to precipitate the DATA hydrate. The DATA hydrate crystallizes in the 2/ space group in the form of needle-shaped crystals with one DATA and one water mol-ecule in the asymmetric unit.
