In the title compound, C(12)H(15)BrF(3)N(3)O(3)S, which has potential herbicidal activity, the mol-ecule is twisted, as indicated by the C-S-C-C torsion angle of 67.86 (19)° for the atoms linking the ring systems. An intra-molecular C-H⋯F short contact occurs and inter-molecular C-H⋯O inter-actions link the mol-ecules in the crystal.

Five previously unreported 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (5-HMF) derivatives, including chinenfurfurals A () and B () as 5-HMF-citric acid hybrids and chinenfurfurals C-E (-) as 5-HMF oligomers, as well as four known analogues (-), were isolated from the fruits of a well-known Chinese herbal species . The structures of these furfural compounds were established by detailed analyses of spectroscopic data especially HRMS and NMR, and it is the first report of furfural type constituents from the title species. The anti-inflammatory property of them was further evaluated by testing their inhibition against the production of nitric oxide in lipopolysaccharide-activated murine RAW264.

Purpose: The purpose of this review study is to investigate the effect of curcumin on the phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K)/protein kinase B (Akt) signaling pathway in various diseases. Curcumin, the main compound found in turmeric, has attracted a lot of attention for its diverse pharmacological properties. These properties have increased the therapeutic potential of curcumin in chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, Type 2 diabetes, obesity, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, kidney disease, and neurodegenerative diseases.

Gray mold disease is caused by B. cinerea, which could severely reduce the production yield and quality of tomatoes. To explore more potential fungicides with new scaffolds for controlling the gray mold disease, ten aldehydes-thiourea derivatives were designed, synthesized and assayed for inhibitory activity against three plant pathogenic fungi.

Pollution, stress response, and obesity: A systematic review.

January 2025

Inserm UMR 1256 Nutrition-Genetics-Environmental Risk Exposure (N-G-ERE), University of Lorraine, Nancy, France.

Limited literature addresses the association between pollution, stress, and obesity, and knowledge synthesis on the associations between these three topics has yet to be made. Two reviewers independently conducted a systematic review of MEDLINE, Embase, and Web of Science Core Collection databases to identify studies dealing with the effects of semi-volatile organic compounds, pesticides, conservatives, and heavy metals on the psychosocial stress response and adiposity in humans, animals, and cells. The quality of papers and risk assessment were evaluated with ToxRTool, BEES-C instrument score, SYRCLE's risk of bias tool, and CAMARADES checklist.
