In the title compound, {[Cu(C(6)H(5)N(2)O(2))(2)]·2H(2)O}(n), the Cu(II) ion (site symmetry ) is coordinated by two N,O-bidentate ligands and two N-monodentate ligands in a distorted CuO(2)N(4) octa-hedral geometry. Each anion acts as a bridge between two cations, thus forming a two-dimensional polymeric network parallel to the ab plane. The packing is consolidated by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. One of the O atoms of the ligand and both water mol-ecules are disordered.

A new twofold interpenetrated 3D metal-organic framework (MOF), namely, poly[[μ-aqua-diaqua{μ-2,2'-[terephthaloylbis(azanediyl)]diacetato}barium(II)] dihydrate], {[Ba(CHNO)(HO)]·2HO}, (I), has been assembled through a combination of the reaction of 2,2'-[terephthaloylbis(azanediyl)]diacetic acid (TPBA, HL) with barium hydroxide and crystallization at low temperature. In the crystal structure of (I), the nine-coordinated Ba ions are bridged by two μ-aqua ligands and two carboxylate μ-O atoms to form a 1D loop-like Ba-O chain, which, together with the other two coordinated water molecules and μ-carboxylate groups, produces a rod-like secondary building unit (SBU). The resultant 1D polynuclear SBUs are further extended into a 3D MOF via the terephthalamide moiety of the ligand as a spacer.

Two novel Cu-based metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), namely, poly[[aquadichlorido[μ-4'-(pyridin-4-yl)-[2,2':6',2''-terpyridine]-4,4''-dicarboxylato][μ-4'-(pyridin-4-yl)-[2,2':6',2''-terpyridine]-4,4''-dicarboxylato]tricopper(II)] monohydrate], {[Cu(CHNO)Cl(HO)]·HO} or {[Cu(PTP)Cl(HO)]·HO}, (I), and poly[[diaquabis[μ-4'-(pyridin-3-yl)-[2,2':6',2''-terpyridine]-4,4''-dicarboxylato]bis(μ-terephthalato)tricopper(II)] dihydrate], {[Cu(CHNO)(CHO)(HO)]·2HO} or {[Cu(BDC)(MTP)(HO)]·2HO}, (II), have been synthesized successfully with 4'-(pyridin-4-yl)-[2,2':6',2''-terpyridine]-4,4''-dicarboxylic acid (HPTP) and 4'-(pyridin-3-yl)-[2,2':6',2''-terpyridine]-4,4''-dicarboxylic acid (HMTP) as the ligands, respectively. Crystal structure analysis reveals that (II) possesses a 2D coordinated layer structure, in which adjacent 2D coordination layers are linked into 3D frameworks through π-π interactions, while the structure of (I) displays dual coordination layers, in which adjacent coordination layers are connected into a 3D framework through hydrogen-bonding interactions. The photophysical properties of the two MOFs were investigated by fluorescence spectroscopy.

Methyldopa, a synthesized dopamine substitute with phenolic, amine, and carboxylic groups, was used to create a selective molecular imprinted polymer (MIP) for detecting formoterol fumarate dihydrate (FFD), a long-acting beta2-agonist for asthma and COPD. The bio-inspired polymer (MD) was electro-grafted onto a pencil graphite electrode (PGE) using cyclic voltammetry in a phosphate buffer (pH 6.5).

Thermoelectric generators (TEGs) based on thermogalvanic cells can convert low-temperature waste heat into electricity. Organic redox couples are well-suited for wearable devices due to their nontoxicity and the potential to enhance the ionic Seebeck coefficient through functional-group modifications.  Pyrazine-based organic redox couples with different functional groups is comparatively analyzed through cyclic voltammetry under varying temperatures.
