2-(3-Ethyl-sulfanyl-5-fluoro-1-benzofuran-2-yl)acetic acid.

Acta Crystallogr Sect E Struct Rep Online

Published: September 2009

The title compound, C(12)H(11)FO(3)S, was prepared by alkaline hydrolysis of ethyl 2-(3-ethyl-sulfan-yl-5-fluoro-1-benzofuran-2--yl) acetate. In the crystal structure, the carboxyl groups are involved in inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, which link the mol-ecules into centrosymmetric dimers. These dimers are further packed into stacks along the b axis by aromatic π-π inter-actions between the furan ring and the benzene ring of neighbouring benzofuran ring systems [centroid-centroid distance = 3.684 (5) Å].

The CREBBP lysine acetyltransferase (KAT) is frequently mutated in follicular lymphoma (FL) and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) and has been studied using gene knock-out (KO) in murine and human cells. However, the majority of CREBBP mutations encode amino acid substitutions within the catalytic KAT domain (CREBBP KAT-PM) that retain an inactive protein and have not been extensively characterized. Using CRISPR gene editing and extensive epigenomic characterization of lymphoma cell-lines, we found that CREBBP KAT-PM lead to unloading of CREBBP from chromatin, loss of enhancer acetylation and prevention of EP300 compensation.

Introgression of dwarfing allele dw1 reduced seed dormancy and increased pre-harvest sprouting susceptibility in grain sorghum converted lines.

Plant Biotechnol J

Instituto de Investigaciones Fisiológicas y Ecológicas Vinculadas a la Agricultura (IFEVA-CONICET), Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Grain sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L. moench) stands as a globally significant cereal crop but the adversity of pre-harvest sprouting (PHS) caused by reduced grain dormancy and moist conditions prior to harvest remains unsolved. Here, we identified a dormancy QTL using a Redlan×IS9530 RIL population, where parent lines are low in tannins and early flowering but otherwise contrasting in grain dormancy and plant height.

Background: Phase II trials and subgroup analyses of clinical studies suggest that bevacizumab plus an oxaliplatin-based chemotherapy doublet is effective and tolerable in fit older patients with metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC).

Objective: To evaluate the influence of age on the incidence of side effects and efficacy of this combination in patients with mCRC randomized in the prospective phase III OBELICS study.

Methods: In total, 230 patients with Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) performance status (PS) 0 out of 1 were retrieved on the basis of age (190 < 70 years and 40 ≥ 70 years).

Objective: To investigate the clinical efficacy of daratumumab versus bortezomib in patients with systemic light chain amyloidosis (pAL) with cardiac involvement, particularly those at stage IIIb.

Methods: Retrospective analysis of 16 AL patients with cardiac involvement, two groups of patients received treatment primarily with bortezomib and daratumumab, respectively. The hematologic remission rate, cardiac response rate, survival and adverse reactions of the two groups were analyzed.

Myocardial infarction (MI), a leading cause of global mortality, often leads to heart failure and impaired quality of life. This randomized controlled trial evaluated Salvia miltiorrhiza (SM), a traditional Chinese herb containing bioactive compounds like tanshinone IIA and salvianolic acid A, as an adjunct therapy for acute MI. SM is known for anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anticoagulant and microcirculatory benefits.
