In the title complex, {[Ho(C(2)O(4))(C(6)H(4)NO(3))(H(2)O)]·(H(2)O)}(n), the Ho(III) ion is coordinated by three O atoms from two 2-oxidopyridinium-3-carboxylate ligands, four O atoms from two oxalate ligands and one water mol-ecule in a distorted bicapped trigonal-prismatic geometry. The 2-oxidopyridin-ium-3-carboxylate and oxalate ligands link the Ho(III) ions into a layer in (100). These layers are further connected by inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving the coordinated water mol-ecules to assemble a three-dimensional supra-molecular network. The uncoordin-ated water mol-ecule is involved in N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds within the layer.

The early stages of kidney crystal formation involve inflammation and hypoxia-induced cell injury; however, the role of the hypoxic response in kidney crystal formation remains unclear. This study investigated the effects of a prolyl hydroxylase domain inhibitor (roxadustat) on renal calcium oxalate (CaOx) crystal formation through in vitro and in vivo approaches. In the in vitro experiment, murine renal tubular cells (RTCs) were exposed to varying roxadustat concentrations and CaOx crystals.

The recycling of critical metals from spent lithium-ion batteries represents a significant step towards meeting the enhancing resource requirements in the new energy industry. Nevertheless, achieving effective leaching of metals from the stable metal-oxygen (MO6) structure of spent ternary cathodes and separation of metal products simultaneously still remained a huge challenge towards industrial applications. Herein, a competitive coordination strategy was proposed to design a novel deep eutectic solvent (DESs), which improved both leaching and selective metal recycling capacity even at high solid-liquid ratio (1:10).

Insect gustatory receptors play a critical role in modulating feeding behaviors by detecting external nutritional cues through complex biochemical pathways. Bitter taste receptors are essential for insects to identify and avoid toxins. However, the detailed molecular and cellular mechanisms by which these receptors influence insect feeding behavior remain poorly understood.

Dicarboxylic acids and their derivatives play crucial roles in various biological processes, necessitating the development of effective receptors for their detection. In particular, the smallest dicarboxylate, oxalate, presents a significant importance due to its widespread presence in nature and its association with various diseases. Yet, very little attention was devoted to the recognition of oxalate with metal-driven self-assemblies like cages or containers while numerous classic organic receptors for oxalate exist.
