The title complex, [Zn(C(7)H(5)O(2))Cl(C(15)H(26)N(2))], used for the magnetic dilution of the analogous Cu(II) complex, was synthesized through a direct synthesis route. The coordination geometry around Zn(II) is best described as distorted tetra-hedral, the largest deviation arising from the (-)-sparteine ligand, as is invariably found in complexes containing this rather rigid mol-ecule. The benzoate anion behaves as a monodentate ligand, with a non-coordinating Zn⋯O separation of 2.969 (5) Å. Mol-ecules are packed in the crystal without significant inter-molecular inter-actions. The shortest Zn⋯Zn separation [6.8186 (7) Å] is observed between mol-ecules related through the 2(1) screw axis. This is an important feature for the magnetic behaviour of the Cu(II) analogue, which is intended for modeling isolated metal centers in the active site of type 1 blue copper proteins.

The title compound, [Zn(CHClNO)Cl], is a dinuclear zinc(II) complex with three chlorido ligands and one penta-dentate ligand containing quinolin-8-olato and bis-(pyridin-2-ylmeth-yl)amine groups. One of the two Zn atom adopts a tetra-hedral geometry and coordinates two chlorido ligands with chelate coord-ination of the N and O atoms of the quinolin-8-olato group in the ligand. The other Zn atom adopts a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry, and coordinates one chlorido-O atom of the quinolin-8-olato group and three N atoms of the bis-(pyridin-2-ylmeth-yl)amine unit.

Thin film of sensing unit, 2,3,9,10,16,17-hexakis(3-dietylaminophenoxy)-23-etynylphenyl-(2-ferrocenyl-o-carborane)phthalocyaninato zinc(II) (ZnPc), have been deposited by spray pyrolysis technique on the quartz crystal surface with a fundamental resonance frequency of 10 MHz. The surface morphology of the film has been studied using the contact mode atomic force microscope (AFM) technique and the average surface roughness was determined to be 36.4 nm.

The title compound, [Zn(CHO)(CHN)]·3HO or {Zn[(CHN)NH][μ-(CH)(COO)]}·3HO, was separ-ated from the solvothermal reaction of zinc(II) sulfate hepta-hydrate, 2,2'-di-pyridyl-amine and sodium adipate. The dinuclear metal complex has a centrosymmetric structure, with the Zn atom adopting a highly distorted octa-hedral coordination sphere composed of four oxygen atoms from bridging adipato ligands and two pyridine nitro-gen atoms. In the crystal, the title compound aggregates into a tri-periodic supra-molecular structure through inter-molecular hydrogen-bonding networks of the form O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O.

The 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction (click chemistry approach) was employed to create a hexa-ferrocenylated 1,3,5-triphenylbenzene derivative. Leveraging the presence of metal-chelating sites associated with 1,2,3-triazole moieties and 1,4-dinitrogen systems (ethylenediamine-like), as well as tridentate chelating sites (1,4,7-trinitrogen, diethylene triamine-like) systems, the application of this molecule as a chemosensor for divalent transition metal cations was investigated. The interactions were probed voltammetrically and spectrofluorimetrically against seven selected cations: iron(II) (Fe), cobalt(II) (Co), nickel(II) (Ni), copper(II) (Cu), zinc(II) (Zn), cadmium(II) (Cd), and manganese(II) (Mn).

In the structure of the title complex, [Zn(CHFNO)(CHN)]ClO, the zinc(II) ion forms coordination bonds with the four nitro-gen atoms of cyclam (1,4,8,11-tetra-aza-cyclo-tetra-decane or [14]aneN4) as well as with the nitro-gen atom of a deprotonated 5-fluoro-uracil ion (FU). Cyclam adopts a -I type conformation within this structure. The coordination structure of the zinc(II) ion is a square pyramid with a distorted base plane formed by the four nitro-gen atoms of the cyclam.
