Although relatively rare, neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) represent the most common type of endobronchial tumors in pediatric patients. Their clinical presentation lacks specificity, often leading to delayed diagnosis due to limited clinical suspicion. Mainly classified as low-grade malignant tumors (grade 1), they typically demonstrate favorable outcomes following surgical removal.

Background: Tracheobronchial foreign body (FB) aspiration (FBA) is a life-threatening emergency mostly observed in childhood and advanced age. With early diagnosis, the FB can be removed using bronchoscopic methods without causing irreversible damage.

Childhood mucoepidermoid carcinomas (MEC) of the bronchus are rare. They present with non-specific symptoms and signs making diagnosis delayed. We present two children with bronchial MEC managed in a tertiary children's hospital in Cape Town, South Africa.

Bronchiectasis is one of the diagnostic entities in the spectrum of pediatric chronic wet cough, causing significant morbidity and mortality. The pathobiology involves a vicious cycle of repeated infections, airway inflammation, dysregulated immunity, and tissue remodeling, resulting in impaired airway clearance, destruction of structural elements within the bronchial wall causing them to become dilated, and small-airway obstruction. Pediatric pathobiological studies are lacking, although there are recent data on the role of antibiotics in treating and preventing exacerbations.

A 6-year-old boy with autistic spectrum disorder was diagnosed with tuberculosis infection following contact tracing of his mother who had isoniazid-resistant pulmonary tuberculosis. He progressed to develop mediastinal lymphadenopathy causing a persistent cough. He was too small to undergo endobronchial ultrasound-guided biopsy.
