Aim This study aims to evaluate the safety and efficacy of transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) check and revision procedures performed in a freestanding interventional radiology (IR) outpatient facility. Methodology A total of 40 patients (male 31:female 9, median age 60 years old) underwent a TIPS check and/or revision at a freestanding IR outpatient facility between 2009 and 2017. Procedures were performed using a mobile C-arm unit under intravenous (IV) moderate sedation, with the patient discharged home on the same day.

Objective: There are many advantages to stabilize the posterior pelvic ring injuries with a transiliac-transsacral (TITS) screw percutaneously. To identify the correct entry point and insert a guidewire accurately for a TITS screw, we propose a method of specifying the optimal entry point, and introduce a technique of enabling freehand placement of a guidewire with fluoroscopic guidance.

Methods: In this retrospective study, 116 patients who underwent pelvic CT scans and pelvic lateral radiographs at our institution from January 2020 to April 2022 were enrolled.

Background: Improved patient outcomes and decreased patellar instability have been reported after medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) reconstruction for recurrent lateral patellar dislocation; however, there is a lack of comparative evidence on functional outcomes associated with different femoral attachment sites for the MPFL graft.

Purpose: To identify differences in MPFL reconstruction graft isometry with femoral tunnel malpositioning, specifically evaluating isometric differences as the femoral position is moved anterior, posterior, proximal, and distal relative to the Schöttle point, the femoral radiographic landmark of the MPFL.

Study Design: Descriptive laboratory study.

Background: Despite the benefits of rural placements in attracting healthcare professionals to rural areas, there remains a gap in understanding the specific impact of placements in remote and very remote areas of Australia, particularly within the unique context of the Kimberley region. There is a need to elucidate differences across geographical areas and contribute to the knowledge about the specifics of where and how student placement programs work. This research explored the impact of a remote placement program at Majarlin Kimberley Centre for Remote Health ('Majarlin') on educational outcomes and workforce intentions of participating students.

Teaching an Adult with ASD Independent Toileting Skills.

Healthcare (Basel)

November 2024

Department of Behavioral Science, Daemen University, 4380 Main St., Amherst, NY 14226, USA.

Independence with the toilet is an important life skill. Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) may present with several deficits that impair their ability to independently use the toilet and often individuals with ASD require more support than is provided in typical toilet training methods, including behavioral toilet training methods. This current study is a demonstration of the use of an intensive toilet training procedure with one eighteen-year-old adult male with ASD and below-average levels of adaptive functioning to successfully void in the toilet and reduce accidents.
