Introduction: The presence of wounds in addition to the excision-induced wounds after severance from the stock plants is known to positively influence adventitious root formation of woody plant cuttings. Previous morphological studies highlighted laser wounding as a technique allowing to precisely control the decisive ablation depth. However, the biochemical processes involved in the response of rooting to the additional wounding remained unexplored.

Methods that enable the on-demand synthesis of biologically active molecules offer the potential for a high degree of control over the timing and context of target activation; however, such approaches often require extensive engineering to implement. Tools to restrict the localization of assembly also remain limited. Here we present a new approach for stimulus-induced ligand assembly that helps to address these challenges.

Red-light absorbing photoredox catalysts offer potential advantages for large-scale reactions, expanding the range of usable substrates and facilitating bio-orthogonal applications. While many red-light absorbing/emitting fluorophores have been developed recently, functional red-light absorbing photoredox catalysts are scarce. Many photoredox catalysts rely on long-lived triplet excited states (triplets), which can efficiently engage in single electron transfer (SET) reactions with substrates.

Hyaluronan (HA; [-3-GlcNAc-1-beta-4-GlcA-1-beta] ), an essential matrix polysaccharide of vertebrates and the molecular camouflage coating in certain pathogens, is polymerized by "HA synthase" (HAS) enzymes. Three HAS classes have been identified with biotechnological utility, but only the Class II PmHAS from Type A has been useful for preparation of very defined HA polymers in vitro. Two general chemoenzymatic strategies with different size products are possible: (1) repetitive step-wise extension reactions by sequential addition of a single monosaccharide from a donor UDP-sugar onto an acceptor (or "primer") comprised of a short glycosaminoglycan chain (e.

Stretchable electronics have seen substantial development in skin-like mechanical properties and functionality thanks to the advancements made in intrinsically stretchable polymer electronic materials. Nanoscale phase separation of polymer materials within an elastic matrix to form one-dimensional nanostructures, namely nanoconfinement, effectively reduces conformational disorders that have long impeded charge transport properties of conjugated polymers. Nanoconfinement results in enhanced charge transport and the addition of skin-like properties.
