Varied presentation of schwannoma - a case study.

Case Rep Oncol

Surgical Oncology, Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, New Delhi, India.

Published: October 2010

Schwannomas can occur anywhere in the body with unusual presentation. They are difficult to diagnose preoperatively. Fine needle aspiration biopsy does not appear to provide an accurate preoperative diagnosis. Complete excision of the mass should be the goal of surgical excision.

Background: Mixed adenoneuroendocrine carcinoma (MANEC) of the cervix is a rare malignant tumor with high malignancy and poor prognosis, of which large-cell neuroendocrine carcinoma and HPV-independent adenocarcinoma are particularly rare, which have been reported limitedly in the literature. Here, we present 2 cases of MANEC of the cervix and discuss important considerations for diagnosing cervical poorly differentiated carcinoma.

Case Presentation: we reported two cases of mixed large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma and adenocarcinoma of the cervix, one HPV-independent and one HPV-associated, both with vaginal bleeding.

Background: Patellar fractures present challenges in treatment, with traditional methods often leading to complications such as loss of reduction and implant failure. This study aimed to compare a novel suture fixation technique with the traditional tension band method using finite element analysis.

Methods: CT images of a healthy 35-year-old male were used to construct 3D patellar models.

Pan-cancer and multiomics: advanced strategies for diagnosis, prognosis, and therapy in the complex genetic and molecular universe of cancer.

December 2024

Núcleo de Genética Humana e Molecular, Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo (UFES), Av. Fernando Ferrari, N. 514, Prédio Ciências Biológicas, Bloco A, Sala 106, Vitória, Espírito Santo, Brasil.

The pan-cancer and multi-omics approach is motivated by the genetic and molecular complexity inherent in the varied types of cancer. This method presents itself as a crucial resource for advancing early diagnosis, defining prognoses and identifying treatments that share common bases between different forms of tumors. The aim of this article is to explore pan-cancer analysis in conjunction with multi-omics strategies, evaluating laboratory, computational, clinical procedures and their consequences, as well as examining the tumor microenvironment, epigenetics and future directions of these technologies in patient management.

Manipulating Toughness and Microstructure in Polyelectrolyte Complex Hydrogels with Competitive Surfactant Micelles.

Langmuir

December 2024

Key Laboratory of Functional Polymer Materials of Ministry of Education and College of Chemistry, Nankai University, Tianjin 300071, China.

Polyelectrolyte complex (PEC) hydrogels provide a promising strategy to develop a class of physically cross-linked networks characterized by exceptional toughness and self-healing properties. However, the precise control of the microstructure and the enhancement of mechanical properties still pose challenges in the field of PEC hydrogels. Herein, we propose a strategy to manipulate the structure of PEC with competitively charged surfactant micelles, leveraging the spatially confined surface charge and excluded volume effects to overcome coacervation issues associated with the PEC, thus achieving a simple one-step preparation of macroscopically uniform and tough PEC hydrogels.

Cooperative regulation based on virtual vector triangles asymptotically compressed in multidimensional space for time-varying nonlinear multi-agent systems.

ISA Trans

College of Information Science and Engineering, and the National Frontiers Science Center for Industrial Intelligence and Systems Optimization, Northeastern University, Shenyang 110819, China. Electronic address:

This study constructs virtual vector triangles in multidimensional space to address cooperative control issue in time-varying nonlinear multi-agent systems. The distributed adaptive virtual point and its dynamic equations are designed, with this virtual point, the leader, and the follower being respectively defined as the vertices of the virtual vector triangle. The virtual vector edges, decomposed by vectors into coordinate axis components, are organized to form a closed virtual vector triangle by connecting the three vertices with directed vector arrows that are oriented from the tail to the head.
