Based on the concept of iconicity, the iconicity hypothesis was emphasized for decades. The aims of this study were to explore the effect of translucency on transparency and symbol learning for children with and without cerebral palsy. Twenty children with cerebral palsy and forty typical peers participated in the study. Ten symbols with high translucency and ten with low translucency were used as experimental material. The results of transparency testing demonstrated the positive relationship between translucency and transparency. The effect of translucency on symbol learning was supported partially, all children with and without CP could learn the low translucent symbols only after two teaching sessions, or three sessions at most. The authors also provided some suggestions for further study based the results of this study.

The artistic and scientific perspectives of the translucent color organic solar cells (OSCs), made with the emerging narrowband nonfullerene acceptors are explored. The translucent color OSCs, comprising a Fabry-Pérot microcavity optical coupling layer, have a power conversion efficiency of >15% and a maximum transparency of >20% for the three primary colors. The performance-color relationship of the translucent color OSCs is analyzed using a combination of high-throughput optical computing and experimental optimization, allowing light with desired color to pass through, while absorbing enough light to generate electricity.

The abnormal development of urate granules in silkworm larvae leads to translucent mutants with a distinct transparent phenotype. Studies on such mutants are expected to enhance current understanding of uric acid metabolism. The hoarfrost translucent (oh) mutant exhibits a mottled, translucent larval integument due to the presence of smaller and irregularly shaped urate granules compared to wild-type individuals.

Synchronous interpersonal movements induce positive prosocial behaviors in adults and children. The processes that underlie this are debated. Here, we investigate the extent to which visual cues available during synchrony experience-particularly shared facial expressions and mutual eye contact-are necessary.

The conventional approach to appearance prediction for 3D printed parts is to print a thin slab of material and measure its reflectance or transmittance with a spectrophotometer. Reflectance works for opaque printing materials. Transmittance works for transparent printing materials.
