Peptides and their conjugates are appealing as molecular scaffolds for constructing supramolecular biomaterials from the bottom up. Through strategic sequence design and interaction modulation, these peptides can self-assemble into diverse nanostructures that can, in turn, mimic the structural and catalytic functions of contemporary proteins. Here, inspired by the histidine brace active site identified in the metalloenzyme, we developed a triblock polypeptide with a hydrophobic polyleucine segment, a hydrophilic polylysine segment, and a terminal oligohistidine segment.

Light patternable colorless liquid crystalline (LC) polymers are promising materials for functional photonic devices with broad applications in optical communication, diffractive optics, and displays. This work reports photoinduced optical anisotropy in thin films of azobenzene-containing (Azo) LC block copolymer supramolecular complexes, which can be decolorized after light patterning providing colorless patterned birefringent polymer films. The supramolecular complexes are prepared via intermolecular pyridine-phenol hydrogen bonding between a low-molecular-weight Azo phenol and host LC AB diblock and ABA triblock copolymers consisted of LC phenylbenzoate (PhM) blocks and poly(vinylpyridine) units.

Breast cancer is the most common malignant tumor that threatens women's life and health, and metastasis often occurs in the advanced stage of breast cancer, leading to pathological bone destruction and seriously reducing patient quality of life. In this study, we coupled chlorin e6 (Ce6) with mono-(6-amino-6-deoxy)-beta-cyclodextrin (β-CD) to form Ce6-CD, and combined ferrocene with the FFVLGC peptide and PEG chains to form the triblock molecule Fc-pep-PEG. In addition, the IDO-1 inhibitor NLG919 was loaded with Ce6-CD and Fc-pep-PEG to construct the supramolecular nanoparticle NLG919@Ce6-CD/Fc-pep-PEG (NLG919@CF).

Engineering of hollow particles with tunable internal structures often requires complicated processes and/or invasive cleavage. Halogen-bond driven 3D confined-assembly of block copolymers has shed light on the engineering of polymer organization along with the fabricating of unique nanostructures. Herein, a family of multilevel hollow-structured particles (e.

A combination of atomistic molecular dynamics (aMD) simulations and circular dichroism (CD) analysis is used to explore supramolecular structures of amphiphilic ABA-type triblock polymer peptide conjugates (PPC). Using the example of a recently introduced PPC with pH- and temperature responsive self-assembling behavior [Otter et al., Macromolecular Rapid Communications 2018, 39, 1800459], this study shows how molecular dynamics simulations of simplified fragment molecules can add crucial information to CD data, which helps to correctly identify the self-assembled structures and monitor the folding/unfolding pathways of the molecules.
