The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the effects of soybean selenium proteinate on Se tissue retention and meat quality in pigs. In group A (n = 11) the mixtures were supplemented with soybean selenium proteinate, in group B (n = 11) with sodium selenite and in group C (n = 11) with Se-enriched yeast (0.3 mg Se per kg in all groups). The use of soybean selenium proteinate resulted in lower retention of Se in tissues (liver, heart, muscle) compared to Se-enriched yeast. Selenium concentrations in tissues achieved by soybean selenium proteinate and sodium selenite were comparable. No differences in serum Se, serum GSH-Px and meat quality traits were found among the groups.

Novel sustainable agricultural strategies that enhance soil nutrients and human nutrition are crucial for meeting global food production needs. Here, we evaluate the potential of "glacial flour," a naturally crushed rock produced by glaciers known to be rich in nutrients (P, K, and micronutrients) needed for plant growth. Our proof-of-concept study, investigated soybean ( var.

Selenium-enriched peptides (SePPs) were isolated from Se-enriched soybean sprouts as the selenium (Se) supplement. The preparation of SePPs was optimised, and their Se content, stability during drying, and absorption properties, were examined. The maximum in vitro antioxidant activity of SePPs was achieved after 5 h of alcalase, at 50 °C, pH 9, 3 % substrate concentration, and 5 % enzyme concentration.

Controlled synthesis of hierarchical flowerlike cobalt tin sulfide (SnCoS) is successfully obtained using the chelation of the biomolecule l-asparagine with cobalt-tin metal cations by a hydrothermal technique. l-asparagine plays a crucial role as an inducer and a good structure-directing activity. Subsequently, pine needle-shaped cobalt iron selenium (FeCoSe) is tightly deposited on the SnCoS surface to construct cobalt tin sulfide coated with cobalt iron selenide (FeCoSe@SnCoS) heterostructure, which has exposed more active sites and the most abundant channels for electron/ion transfer.

This study revealed the differences of sensory markers between traditional pork meat, fatten by 3 % soybean oil, and n-3 PUFA enriched pork meat, which was fattened through a pig diet supplemented with 3 % linseed oil and a combination of 3 % linseed oil with 0.3 mg/kg of selenium methionine. E-nose (tongue) analysis indicated pronounced differences in odor and taste profiles of pork meats between control group and linseed oil treatment group.

High selenium (Se) levels can induce toxicity, inhibit growth, and affect gene expression and metabolite content in plants. However, the molecular mechanism by which high Se stress affects soybean plants remains unclear. This study examined the responses of soybean leaves and roots to high Se stress using transcriptome and metabolome analyses.
