In the title mol-ecule, C(10)H(8)N(2)O(2), the imidazole and benzene rings form a dihedral angle of 14.5 (1)°. In the crystal, inter-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into chains extending in [01], which are further linked into sheets parallel to (102) through weak C-H⋯O inter-actions.

Idesia polycarpa Maxim (IPM) cake meal, a major by-product of oil extraction, is often discarded in large quantities, resulting in considerable waste. This study explored the extraction of IPM polysaccharides (IPMPs) from cake meal using the innovative ultrasonic-assisted three-phase partitioning (UTPP) method, in comparison with conventional techniques, including acid, medium-temperature alkali, chelating agent, and enzyme extraction methods. The IPMP-UT prepared via UTPP method achieved superior extraction efficiency (10.

Photoredox/Nickel Dual-Catalytic Asymmetric Silylarylation of Alkenes.

Org Lett

The efficient construction of chiral aryl-containing organosilicon frameworks via catalytic enantioselective three-component silylarylation of alkenes remains a great challenge. Herein, a photoredox/nickel dual-catalytic asymmetric protocol has been disclosed by using a chiral biimidazoline (BiIM) as the ligand, silylboranes as the silyl radical precursors, aryl bromides as the coupling partners, and morpholine as the promoter. Remarkably, the reaction features mild and green conditions, high reaction efficiency, and excellent enantioselectivity, enabling the facile synthesis of valuable chiral tropic acid and sila-isoflavanone structures.

PHENYLALANINE AMMONIA-LYASE 2 regulates secondary metabolism and confers manganese tolerance in Stylosanthes guianensis.

Plant Physiol

January 2025

Key Laboratory of Crop Gene Resources and Germplasm Enhancement in Southern China, Ministry of Agriculture and Rual Affairs/Tropical Crops Genetic Resources Institute, Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences, Haikou, 571101, China.

Stylo (Stylosanthes guianensis) is a tropical legume that exhibits considerable tolerance to manganese (Mn) toxicity, which severely constrains plant growth in acidic soils. To elucidate the Mn detoxification mechanisms in stylo, this study investigated the excess Mn-regulated metabolic profile of stylo roots and examined the role of metabolic enzymes in Mn tolerance. Excess Mn triggered oxidative stress in the two stylo genotypes tested.

Highly Stereo- and Enantioselective Syntheses of δ-Alkyl-Substituted ()-Homoallylic Alcohols.

Org Lett

January 2025

Department of Chemistry, Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, Virginia 24061, United States.

Highly stereo- and enantioselective synthesis of δ-alkyl-substituted ()-homoallylic alcohols via asymmetric allylation is developed. In the presence of a chiral phosphoric acid catalyst, allylation of aldehydes with α-substituted allylboronates provides δ-alkyl-substituted homoallylic alcohols with excellent ()-selectivities and enantioselectivities.

Changes in the gut microbiota are associated with obesity and may influence weight loss. We are currently implementing a sustained multidisciplinary collaborative weight management (MCWM) approach to weight loss. We report significant improvements in participant health status after 6 months, along with alterations in the structure, interactions, and metabolic functions of the microbiota.
