The title coordination polymer, [CdBr(2)(C(8)H(8)N(4))(2)](n), arose from a layer-separated diffusion synthesis at room temperature. The title compound is isotypic with the I and Cl analogues. The Cd atom, located on an inversion center, is coordinated by two bromide ions and four N atoms (two from triazole rings and two from pyridyl rings) in a distorted trans-CdBr(2)N(4) octa-hedral arrangement. The bridging 1-(4-pyridyl-meth-yl)-1H-1,2,4-triazole ligands are twisted [dihedral angle between the triazole and pyridine rings = 72.56 (13)°], affording a two-dimensional 4(4) sheet structure in the crystal.

The title compound, [CdBr(CHN)] , was prepared by the reaction of cadmium bromide with 2,5-di-methyl-pyrazine in water. Its asymmetric unit consists of one Cd cation and one 2,5-di-methyl-pyrazine ligand that are located on a crystallographic mirror plane as well as one bromide anion that occupies a general position. The Cd cations are sixfold coordinated by four bromide anions and two 2,5-di-methyl-pyrazine ligands within slightly distorted -CdBrN octa-hedra.

The reaction of cadmium iodide with 3-amino-pyrazole (3-apz) in ethano-lic solution leads to tautomerization of the ligand and the formation of crystals of the title compound, -poly[[di-iodido-cadmium(II)]-bis-(μ-3-amino-1-pyrazole)-κ : ;κ : ], [CdI(CHN)] or [CdI(3-apz)] . Its asymmetric unit consists of a half of a Cd cation, an iodide anion and a 3-apz mol-ecule. The Cd cations are coordinated by two iodide anions and two 3-apz ligands, generating -CdNI octa-hedra, which are linked into chains by pairs of the bridging ligands.

The title coordination polymer with the 4-methyl--(pyridin-2-yl-methyl-idene)aniline Schiff base ligand (, CHN), [CdCl(CHN)] (), exhibits a columnar structure extending parallel to [100]. The columns are aligned in parallel and are decorated with chelating ligands on both sides. They are elongated into a supra-molecular sheet extending parallel to (01) through π-π stacking inter-actions involving ligands of neighbouring columns.
