A survey demonstrated that angled abutments for external-hex implant platforms are difficult to place because of the handling of the components and screwdriver. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the performance of a device facilitating the placement of prefabricated angled abutments. This new instrument features improved ergonomics and is based on the design of a modified pickup impression coping. Forty experienced professionals tested two methods of placing angled abutments in a typodont on implants replacing a maxillary central incisor and a maxillary first molar. Using the new device, the abutments could be placed with a 43.9% reduction in time compared to the original manufacturer's instrument.

Aim: To compare the effect of the shape of the healing abutment, concave or straight, on the dimensions of the soft tissue after healing.
Materials And Methods: Patients needing implant therapy in the posterior area were treated with a 1-stage surgery protocol; concave (CONC) or straight (STR) healing abutments were randomly assigned after implant installation. Before surgery, a CBCT and an intra-oral scan were obtained (IOS#0); IOS#1 was taken after soft tissue healing.

Methods: Three FEA models were created: a healthy mandibular premolar (Model 1), a premolar with a single crown and a lesion repaired using a fiber-post (Model 2), and 3) a premolar with a lesion repaired using fiber-post to support a four-member bridge (Model 3).
