Increase of crop production is the primary goal of crop breeding. Rice grain shape is a quantitative trait that is directly related to yield traits and has a close relationship with quality traits. The evaluation of grain shape is mainly grain length, grain width, grain thickness, length/width, and length/thickness. In recent years, the quantitative genetic research on rice grain shape has made a significant progress and a number of important genes associated with rice grain shape have been cloned. This paper reviews the classic genetic analysis on rice grain traits, QTL mapping, grain shape gene cloning and functional analysis, and their application in rice breeding for super high yield.

2,2-Bis-(methylol)propionic acid-based second-generation polyester dendron amphiphile (T-D) containing visible light-responsive donor-acceptor Stenhouse adduct (DASA) as hydrophobic tails is synthesized. Micelles of T-D amphiphile and its mixed micelles of varying compositions with nonresponsive dendron amphiphile containing lauryl groups are prepared in aqueous solution. In transmission electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy analyses, T-D amphiphiles show rice grain-like ellipsoidal micelles as the predominant morphology.

Nanotechnology has experienced significant advancements, attracting considerable attention in various biomedical applications. This innovative study synthesizes and characterizes Ge/PLA/AuNCs (gelatin/PLA/gold nanocomposites) using Syzygium cumini extract to evaluate their various biomedical applications. The UV-Visible spectroscopy results in an absorption peak at 534 nm were primarily confirmed by Ge/PLA/AuNCs synthesis.

Using lock-exchange experiments, this study investigates the transport and sedimentation of microplastics (MPs) via turbidity currents. Two hypotheses were tested: MP sedimentation is influenced by suspended sediment concentration and grain size. Utilizing flows with different sediment concentrations and grain sizes in combination with three different MPs (PET fibers, melamine, and PVC fragments), the experiments revealed distinct sedimentation patterns: higher sediment concentrations enhance MP transport, and turbidity currents with finer sediments transported MPs over greater distances, highlighting the importance of sediment characteristics to predict MP distribution by such flows.

Statement Of Problem: Infrared radiation heating (IRH) technology has been innovatively applied to the annealing of selective laser melted (SLM) cobalt chromium (Co-Cr) frameworks. However, previous studies have not reported the effects of IRH on the warping deformation and mechanical properties of these frameworks.
Purpose: The purpose of this in vitro study was to investigate the effects of IRH on the warping deformation and mechanical properties of dental SLM Co-Cr alloy and to evaluate its potential applications in dental restorations.

This study investigates the pollen morphology of 13 taxa of Turkish Gentiana using a statistical approach, contributing to their taxonomy. The aim is to elucidate the palynological characteristics of the taxa and to reveal their contributions to the systematic understanding of the genus Gentiana. The pollen grains are monad, radially symmetrical, isopolar, and tricolporate.
