IgE-mediated opioid hypersensitivities, or true allergies, are rare and most adverse reactions to opioids can be attributed to side effects or to pseudo-allergies. Given that immune-mediated allergies to opioids are uncommon, literature regarding cross-reactivity among opioid classes are limited. This retrospective study aimed to determine the rates of cross-reactivity and tolerance among patients with previously documented opioid allergy or adverse drug reaction (ADR) across three opioid drug classes (natural, semisynthetic, and synthetic opioids).

Mas-related G protein-coupled receptor X2 (MRGPRX2) is a newly identified receptor on mast cells that contribute to IgE-independent pseudo-allergy. Background: Vitamin K3 (VK3), a fat-soluble synthetic analog of the vitamin K family, has coagulant, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and anticancer properties. Background: Hemodialysis reactions (HDRs) are similar to complement activation-related pseudo allergy (CARPA), a hypersensitivity reaction that occurs when administering certain (nano)drugs intravenously. The pathomechanism of CARPA was described based on animal experiments. Typical CARPA-like dialysis reactions, which occur at the start of hemodialysis, have been reported using polysulfone dialyzers.
