The photodissociation of gas-phase I(2)Br(-) was investigated using fast beam photofragment translational spectroscopy. Anions were photodissociated from 300 to 270 nm (4.13-4.59 eV) and the recoiling photofragments were detected in coincidence by a time- and position-sensitive detector. Both two- and three-body channels were observed throughout the energy range probed. Analysis of the two-body dissociation showed evidence for four distinct channels: Br(-) + I(2), I(-) + IBr, Br+I(2) (-), and I + IBr(-). In three-body dissociation, Br((2)P(3∕2)) + I((2)P(3∕2)) + I(-) and Br(-) + I((2)P(3∕2)) + I((2)P(3∕2)) were produced primarily from a concerted decay mechanism. A sequential decay mechanism was also observed and attributed to Br(-)((1)S)+I(2)(B(3)Π(0u) (+)) followed by predissociation of I(2)(B).

Objectives: This in vitro study aimed to investigate the toothbrushing wear on both enamel and dentin surfaces of reference and commercially available dentifrices.

Methods: Bovine enamel and dentin blocks were initially polished and embedded within a resin composite in square shapes (10×8×6 mm3). Employing toothbrushes equipped with nylon bristles, a toothbrushing machine was utilized, subjecting dentin specimens (n = 36) to 500 brush cycles and enamel samples to 5000 brush cycles (n = 36).

We have performed a data science study of Monte Carlo (MC) simulation trajectories to understand factors that can accelerate the formation of zeolite nanoporous crystals, a process that can take days or even weeks. In previous work, MC simulations predicted and experiments confirmed that using a secondary organic structure-directing agent (OSDA) accelerates the crystallization of all-silica LTA zeolite, with experiments finding a three-fold speedup [Bores et al., Phys.

Article Synopsis
  • This study examines how laser surface modifications can improve wear resistance, hardness, and friction in both dry and lubricated conditions.
  • The research uses nanosecond pulsed laser treatment to create different surface structures on steel, aiming to increase wear resistance and decrease the coefficient of friction (COF).
  • Findings suggest that laser texturing enhances hardness, modifies surface wettability, reduces COF, and promotes better lubrication retention, making it a beneficial technique for industries needing durable materials.

Introduction: Assessing the body composition is important in adult patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus to prevent and achieve optimum control during treatment. Bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA), being a more affordable method of assessing the body composition, should therefore be compared with the gold standard dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) to look for a correlation between the two and the potential of BIA to be used widely in this population. A cross-sectional observational study was conducted on 60 patients attending the endocrinology outpatient department (OPD) of a tertiary care centre in Kolkata, India.
