Purpose: Two previously proposed modelling approaches to explain the bimodal pattern of activity and/or sleep in are based on 1) the concept of morning and evening oscillators underlying the peaks of activity in the morning and evening, respectively, and 2) the concept of two cycles of buildup and decay of sleep pressure, gated only by the circadian oscillator. Previously, we simulated 24-h alertness-sleepiness curves in humans using a model postulating the circadian modulation of the buildup and decay phases of two (wake and sleep) homeostatic processes. Here, we tested whether a similar model could be applied to simulate the bimodal 24-h rhythm of fly locomotor activity and sleep.

The role of beta band phase resetting in audio-visual temporal order judgment.

Cogn Neurodyn

December 2025

Department of Psychology, Graduate School of Humanities, Kobe University, 1-1 Rokkodai- cho, Nada, Kobe, 657-8501 Japan.

Unlabelled: The integration of auditory and visual stimuli is essential for effective language processing and social perception. The present study aimed to elucidate the mechanisms underlying audio-visual (A-V) integration by investigating the temporal dynamics of multisensory regions in the human brain. Specifically, we evaluated inter-trial coherence (ITC), a neural index indicative of phase resetting, through scalp electroencephalography (EEG) while participants performed a temporal-order judgment task that involved auditory (beep, A) and visual (flash, V) stimuli.

Sleep timing in flies from "adolescence" to adulthood.

Fly (Austin)

December 2025

Chronobiology Section, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Surrey, Guildford, UK.

The aim of the present study was to assess sleep timing in at different ages, within the setting of an enforced schedule of varying light-dark stimuli, simulating light exposure variations between four typical office and one spent outside by a human, for a total of 30 days. Locomotor activity recording started when male flies were 3 days old. Flies exhibited a bimodal activity pattern, with a morning and an evening peak, and clear anticipation of the and transitions.

Background: The peak incidence of cardiovascular diseases (CVD) usually occurs in the morning. This study aimed to investigate the exact distribution pattern of peak incidence of ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) in the Chinese population, and to explore whether it is associated with the prognosis.

Methods: This study included 7,805 patients with STEMI from the multicenter, prospective AMI cohort in China, for whom had a definite time of symptom onset.

Time-restricted feeding does not improve daily rhythms in locomotion and drinking disrupted by artificial light at night.

Electronic address:

Exposure to artificial light at night (ALAN) disrupts natural darkness and desynchronizes daily rhythms in physiological processes and behavior. Previously, in rats, we have shown that dim ALAN disturbed the central circadian control and the temporal organization of behavior, and hormonal and metabolic pathways. The measurements of undisturbed daily behavioral (locomotor activity, feeding and drinking) patterns revealed reduced amplitudes and a transitory activity peak in the middle of the light (i.
