A 45-year-old male patient presented with a persistent cough lasting four months, accompanied by fever and significant weight loss. A chest computed tomography revealed cryptogenic pneumonia, and subsequent investigations identified a positive cytomegalovirus (CMV) viral load in bronchoalveolar lavage. A transbronchial biopsy confirmed intranuclear basophilic inclusions indicative of CMV infection.

Background: Legionella pneumophila is an uncommon pathogen causing community-acquired atypical pneumonia. Acinetobacter baumannii is a major pathogen responsible for hospital-acquired pneumonia, but it rarely causes serious infections in a community setting. Without prompt and appropriate treatments, infection from either of these two pathogens can cause a high mortality rate.

Background: It is now recognized that many patients have persistent symptoms after recovery from acute COVID-19 infection, an infection caused by the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2. This constellation of symptoms known as 'Long COVID' may manifest with a wide range of physical and cognitive/psychological symptoms. Few data are available on the prevalence, attributes, and factors associated with Long COVID in Africa.

Unlabelled: This study aims to evaluate the clinical course of critical pertussis illness to the pediatric intensive care unit in Istanbul. The study was conducted as a multicenter, retrospective study between January 1, 2023, and December 31, 2023. Cases with positive polymerase chain reaction testing for Bordetella pertussis of nasopharyngeal swab samples within the first 24 h of pediatric intensive care unit admission were recorded.
