Neuropathic pain is a pervasive health concern worldwide, posing significant challenges to both clinicians and neuroscientists. While acute pain serves as a warning signal for potential tissue damage, neuropathic pain represents a chronic pathological condition resulting from injury or disease affecting sensory pathways of the nervous system. Neuropathic pain is characterized by long-lasting ipsilateral hyperalgesia (increased sensitivity to pain), allodynia (pain sensation in response to stimuli that are not normally painful), and spontaneous unprovoked pain.

Background: Ultra-processed products (UPPs), high in sugar, fat and sodium, contribute to increasing burdens of obesity and non-communicable diseases in South Africa (SA). Increased consumption and acceptability of UPPs is driven, in part by aggressive marketing. Front of package labelling laws, particularly warning labels (WLs) coupled with marketing restrictions, have been recommended to improve consumer awareness of unhealthy products, incentivise reformulation and underpin other interventions.

The construction of a predictive model that accurately reflects the spontaneous combustion temperature of coal in goaf is fundamental to monitoring and early warning systems for thermodynamic disasters, including coal spontaneous combustion and gas explosions. In this paper, on the basis of programming temperature experiment and industrial analysis, 381 data sets of 9 coal types are established, and feature selection was executed through the utilization of the Pearson correlation coefficient, ultimately identifying O, CO, CO, CH, CH, CH/CH, CH/CH, CH/CH, CO/CO, and CO/O as input indicators for the prediction model. The chosen indicator data were divided into training and testing sets in a 4:1 ratio, the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) methodology was applied to optimize the parameters of the XGBoost regressor, and a universal PSO-XGBoost prediction model is proposed.

Predicting novel mutations has long-lasting impacts on life science research. Traditionally, this problem is addressed through wet-lab experiments, which are often expensive and time consuming. The recent advancement in neural language models has provided stunning results in modeling and deciphering sequences.

In recent years, a significant rise in international sudden risk events has resulted in impacts and disruptions to maritime supply chains (MSC). The resilience of maritime supply chains has garnered attention from the academic, industrial, and government sectors. The paper proposes a methodological framework based on the structural equation model (SEM), Necessary Condition Analysis (NCA), fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA), and utilizes questionnaire data from the maritime industry in China to evaluate the resilience in MSC.
